I called last year and ordered a gift card for my grandparents who live in Shelby, near Ludington. The woman who answered said she could send it in the mail or just take their names and record the purchase, so to save them the trouble of keeping track I said taking their names would be great! (This was obviously my first mistake as nothing was ever sent to me regarding the purchase, but I thought if any questions came up the charge on my statement would suffice...) I made a “fake” to give them as a symbol/ reminder. My grandparents never made it to the shop so we took them up this year (my grandma had called a few times to make sure her gift would still be honored). When we arrived (2 hours from our home with my 80+ year old grandparents and my two children) there was no record of the transaction and she asked if I had a credit card statement to verify the purchase. I provided this and she said that doesn’t prove anything, we could’ve just come to the shop and bought something on that day a year ago. My well-meaning Grandma took out the one I made to try to show her that we gave it to her as a gift and the worker took a picture of it, as if we had done something wrong in addition to “trying to swindle” her. My husband, in frustration, banged his hand on the counter and she called the police. After I showed the police my phone and credit card statements from December 2016 verifying as much as possible the story I was telling she came out and said “I just want you to go away,” gave us our money back and we left. She told me I was a horrible person and never come back. Not a problem. Update: they repeatedly insist on Facebook that we provided a “fake” gift card (the one I made for my Grandma to wrap as a gift) and questioned why we would ever expect to receive what we paid for without a receipt (even though I provided a credit card statement and a phone statement with a call made to their business on the same day). They told outright lies and then blocked us from responding on Facebook.
To be clear, writing a bad review because of the terrible way you treated us is not harassment. And as I have repeatedly stated, the fake gift card was never meant to pass as one issued from you, I made it to give to my grandma for the payment I made to you (as verified by my phone records from Hudsonville and my corresponding credit card payment on the same day). If your practice is not to record names for gift cards then I am confused as to what the green folder with hand written names you brought out was. I will absolutely not contact you any further. I emailed you one time because I thought a private conversation might lend itself to rational conversation and understanding. That is not possible. But I am entitled to share my experience in a review so that others might know the way you...
Read moreLove Wines may be one of west Michigan's best kept secrets. Over the years we've had chances to visit many of the wineries on the west side of the state. Love Wines has now become our overall favorite. Wine choices, quality and value make it #1. We sampled a total of 18 wines (see picture of wine list) and didn't try one we didn't like. Though the dessert wines were pricy but exceptional. We didn't try any oaked wines, but we did end up taking advantage of the 10% discount on a purchase of 12 or more bottles. Generally we purchase anywhere from none to four bottles at other wineries, if that tells you something. The wines are delightful and we enjoyed our visit immensely. The wine ingredients are locally sourced from local vineyards and orchards. We also tried their charcuterie board, which was a great value with your choice of three excellent quality cheeses (see picture) meat, olives/oil, and replenishable bread and crackers. They are in a part of town that has historic buildings and they are nearing completion on a lovely restoration of what once was the H. P. Miller Saloon. Due to road construction we actually parked on Washington and walked across the bridge a couple of blocks to get there, though we could have driven directly to their parking lot on second Street via Madison Street. They are a family run business and we had the pleasure of seeing one of their hard working and polite children, Gabriel, who had to go about some restocking after our foray. A big thank you goes to the /wine artist/owners Jana and her husband Nick for offering such exceptional overall wines and a very pleasant...
Read moreThis rating would be lower. We bought a gift card for $25 as a gift for my grandparents in law for Christmas last year. They offered to record the gift card in their records so that my grandparents in law could just give their names and not have to keep track of a gift card. The lady brought out her loose leaf sheet of paper qualifying as her records and the information was missing. She asked us to show our credit card statement to see the charge. We showed the charge on the credit card statement for $25. We showed the phone record with the phone call made on the same day and time of the charge. Now they will not honor the gift card. They accused us of scamming them and called my wife names in front of my kids and grandparents in law. Of course there is no possibility they made a mistake on their records (sarcasm). Awful business. They should be shut down. Do not come here ever.
Since the above review on Facebook, the business replied with malicious comments about my kids and lied, blatantly, about the actual events that happened in our visit to the establishment. I advise further only because this could be their business practice and no one should ever have to go through what they...
