You're staying at a contracted out housing complex.

If you've booked one of the condos for ski season, you have to check in at the Jackson Gore resort. I booked through American Airlines (Rocket Travel) and that wasn't specified in any communication. Upon arrival the community building was dark and locked so there was nowhere to check in. When I called American Airlines travel they put me on hold for 30 minutes and still weren't able to help because they didn't know who to contact. I had to call the (annoyed) executive director of the condo association to learn we had to go to Jackson Gore.

Facilities were not quite as advertised in that we never were granted access to the gym or hot tub, but upon check out, told that we could have requested a key card to do so (too little too late). Condo was also lacking some basic necessities like matches for the fire, filters for the coffee maker, and batteries for the TV remote. There was also no turn down service, although also at check out, we were told that we could have requested it. We also had to shovel the walk to the entrance ourselves the night we arrived and the beds were very hard.

Why four stars? Being able to ski in/out was the highlight and the place was big enough for a family of 6. Solitude lift is open in the early season, and services some of the more challenging and fun runs on the mountain. It was also a ghost town, so getting on the lift was literally no wait (even on the weekend!). Finally, not fighting for parking/having to take a shuttle was also a great perk.

Nearly $1300 for two nights was a little expensive, but skiing with a family isn't cheap so I get it. Okemo was a lot of fun for everyone. Not sure I'd stay at Solitude again, but I also can’t knock...

So convenient : ski closets, huge mud rooms, boots heater, lots of shelf space, and the cleanest lodging we have ever been on a Mountain/ski vacation ! Well equipped kitchen, all appliances worked perfectly, only the TV could be replaced in the unit we were in. Ski in/out is so...
