My wife just left a positive review, but I also feel the need to do the same just to offset at least the last awful review somebody left because I honestly feel like she had a rock in her ski boot or something.
We ate here for dinner out of convenience since we were staying at the hotel. I was not expecting it to be very good. The French onion soup is made in house and is extremely flavorful, packed with onions and cheese. We ordered a warm beet salad that had multiple huge chunks of beets that were perfectly cooked, house pickled onions and a delicious house made dressing, also not skimping on goat cheese.
We also order the poutine(and again on our second visit the next night). The poutine was made with house cut potato slices that were perfectly fried and absolutely covered in melty string cheese and gravy. Now, the gravy was not house made but it WAS great, so salty and beefy. It’s the perfect rib-sticking hearty dish to have after day of skiing. Entrees for both nights included salmon, beef shorts ribs and the signature Coleman burger.
I don’t know if they have a 1st string chef for the weekends, but the guy cooking mid-week sure as hell knows how to cook. Salmon was perfect both nights. Risotto was perfect both nights. Short rib and burger cooked perfect.
Service and staff were very nice and helpful.
Oh! And the friggen cocktails were great too, which really...
Read moreWe went in Christmas Eve and were truely disappointed, way over priced for serious lack of taste. We had gone in late summer for burger night and the food was good server was amazing, the assistant manager checked on us and you could tell she new what she was doing. So we were excited to go for Christmas Eve dinner. My husband had the scallop dish and the maple cream sauce was just bland, no maple flavor what so ever. My friends wedge salad just looked like it was thrown on a plate and for the price that is not acceptable. I know it was Christmas however we waited 50 mins between apps and entree. Management was severly lacking, staff were saying horrible things about the GM, Granted I'm sure working the holidays had something to do with it but the restaurant just seemed like chaos Christmas Eve. My friends went in the next day and said the older woman hostessing was rude and clueless how to do her job, but their server was friendly and manager got them dessert for the hostesses rudeness and apologized. Can't say we will be back. We've dined several times over the years and always the same problems. We own a restaurant so we know how things can go but the same issues over a long period of time aren't ok. Find a new GM and food...
Read moreIt’s about two stars for value, but if you know what you’re in for it’s free or even four stars. The ribeye steak was good and actually cooked medium-rare, as ordered. The French onion soup was good, as was the salad. Everything is about 25 percent more than I’d expect based on other restaurants. The service is very friendly and we never ran out of water, but we were tucked away around a corner and they seemed to forget about us when we wanted the check and we had to get search them out. I’m told the wine was good, a red that obviously didn’t need to be chilled, unlike a previous reviewer’s chardonnay. The armchair seating is comfy but sort of hard to eat and also to talk, as you’re a couple of feet away from the table. The bathrooms are outside the restaurant in the hotel lobby, which is a little weird. A lot of people come with little kids and they’re very good at handling that. There are also patrons who speak a lot of different languages, and they seem to have no difficulty. I’m short, slowish service, adequate food, overpriced. But they’re open on holidays, so they might be among very...
