Beautiful photo gallery featuring Jim Brandenburg, one of National Geographic's most famous photographers and recipient of the extremely rare NatGeo Lifetime Achievement Award. Jim is originally from Luverne MN and still lives in Minnesota today. The gallery is nice and features his photos (all of which can be purchased, or prints of be purchased) spread across the main floor and the finished basement.
The building the gallery is in is to the left of the County Courthouse. There are no signs on the building or door. When you walk in, it first feels like a mix of VFW (veteran history museum is upstairs) and local chamber of commerce. Walk past that to enter the gallery from the courthouse parking lot. Only other thing is I wish the gallery featured more variety of his photos from around the world, not just the local prairies on the main floor and most the north-woods in the basement.

This gallery has the brilliant wildlife photographs of Jim Brandenburg. The photographs are a testament to his many hours of wildlife observation and are well worth a drive to find this hidden gem.
In addition, the county has a world war II museum in this same building that is UNBELIEVABLE for a county museum. I cannot give it high enough marks for content and layout. Some of the pieces on display are every bit as nice as some I've seen in national museums. This alone is worth...

It covers almost all the wars with interesting memorabilia as well as things donated by local veterans. Just don't be spooked by the mannequin camping out in the 3rd floor lol! Definitely...
