I’m actually quite disappointed.. I paid for 3 Bergen county cards and pay to get in and they can’t even keep the water clean nor clear. I asked a lifeguard how often they place bleach into the lake and she stated she rarely works here so she doesn’t know. They have 2 chlorinators yet after I did a chlorine test it came out clear.. meaning there is not one trace of chlorine in the lake. And can be clearly told by how thickly green the water is and can’t see your feet in less then one foot of water.
When I was in the water I saw a tiny thing flipping around in the water like a weird shrimp type of body and got out ASAP. I don’t need anything entering my body from any opening. That’s what pushed me to check the chlorine levels.. sadly.
Income coming in steadily for this lake but they can’t even spare some of it to keep the lake clean.. ducks swim here and defecate and we swim in in.
I come here to be relieved from the heat and after seeing the water I pretty much pay to burn in the heat. Waste of my money I won’t get back nor get reimbursed. I could lay out in the heat...
Read moreThis is a great place to spend a day picnicking, and swimming For the more adventurous water enthusiasts the separate splash zone lake with obstacle course was a blast! Pair up with a someone and try to make your way around moderate and difficult obstacles. You get life vests for the many instances you do not successfully pass the obstacle. The best part is you either feel great for successfully getting through an obstacle or you feel refreshed because you didn't and you ended up in the water. The picnic areas, open grass fields, volley ball net on the sand, etc give you plenty of activity or relaxation time for you, your family and/or friends... This place was worth the trip. We will definitely be going back.
For children under 15, they will have to pass a test to be able to swim in the deeper side of the swimming lake. Test consists of jumping in the deep end with a lifeguard next to them and swiming a distance which extends a little bit longer than an Olympic sized pool. No doggie paddle, they have to swim with a swim stroke where the elbow are...
Read moreGreat state park. Man made lake, many lifeguards on duty, the county does an amazing job trying to keep this place clean. When you consider that parents let their children use the Porta Potties on their own and leave them disgusting when they are finished. You definitely need to get here early, 8ish. We got here at @8:15. Able to get two tables today and a grill, people walking in @12 or later trying to take one of our tables, sorry not going to happen there was zero reason to curse me out in Spanish. Others showed up @2 and moved our chairs so that they could setup a huge tent with all the fixings, again not going to happen. There is plenty of open space - zero reason to try to push people out. Overall we had a great day, the rain held off. Going back...
