I absolutely loved Big Noise's Production of The Sound of Music. Director Travis Monroe Neese brought this classic story to the next level thoughtful choices, perfect casting, elegance and love. The set-design by Lauren Nichols is simply yet brilliant and allowed projection designer Brent Walker's artwork transport us on location. The costumes and wigs deserve a round of applause of their own. Martha Shuford and Robert Puig's designs are perfect. Oh my gosh and the choreography by Ben Loche. I especially loved the 16 going on 17 choices. Nothing is better than LIVE MUSIC. I am talking about a full orchestra lead by Aaron Kaplan (Sachio Nang). So, what really blew me away were the Nuns. These nuns are like a professional women's choir thanks for vocal director Kara Spector. She made these voices ring pure joy!! This cast lead by Tuesdai B. Perry as Maria and the amazingly talented kids will make you fall in love with the story again. This is...
Read moreWe tried sitting through “Disaster” but couldn’t make it past intermission. I know this is just community theater, but I’ve worked on better and more professional high school productions. I saw that the actors were wearing microphones, but they were constantly being drowned out buy the band on stage. Were they turned on? Did they have fresh batteries? (Side note, if you’re going to make the band part of the performance, put them in costume - they all look like they just walked in from the street.) The musical itself was cheesy. Some people might like that, and if it was better produced/performed, perhaps we would have as well. I can’t believe they charge $35 a ticket for this. This was a poorly produced dud. I wish I could go back in time and slap myself when I suggested that we give it a try. “How bad could it be?” I thought....
Read moreWe took our kiddo here to see the Elephant and Piggie show. Wow they really did a great job making it an exciting experience with Piggie and Gerald "disguises" for sale at the door and little fruit snacks available for purchase. The show was 100% for little kids but all the kids in the audience were super engaged the entire time. Our guy was so excited he would hardly contain himself.
There isn't a bad seat in the entire house. And the seats were pretty comfortable! They have productions for adults as well, I know. What a great resource this is for the...
