This trail was really fun. It was not a flat or even path, there were many places where you need to pay attention to your foot placement to avoid serious injury. We went in a group, kids ages 3-14 were able to tackle the trail with little difficulty. If you're unsteady, I highly recommend a walking stick. There is a creek part way into the trail and it's a nice spot for kids to play and cool off. There were also a couple of caves to check out, some harder to get to than others. Bring a flashlight to go deeper into the caves! Parking at the trail head can fit 5-6 vehicles. There were no trash receptacles at the trail head, and no toilets or outhouses either.. although both are down the road just a short way.

I loved revisiting the Trillium Trail at Giant City State Park during the fall. The trail is beautiful year around. With the leaves mainly gone and weeds no longer thriving, you are able to see more of the rock formations and lay out of the ground. I consider the trail a moderate hike. A lot of uneven ground walking on large rock. You go around the bottom of the bluff and then up to the top using the stairs. Use extra caution on the trail as the leaves being on the ground make it a little more challenging with your footing. 11/08/2023

Very nice trail, runs along the stream and then ascends up the ridge and doubles back around before descending back to parking lot. About 1.5 miles. Ascent is the only difficult/taxing part. Some steep drops along the top so pre-hike admonitions to be careful and stay on the path are advisable.

This hike is a loop that goes up the bluff so you can look out over the road and Shelter 1 to the north. Breathtaking view and workout. Stay safe and away from the edge! Also: it's named after the flower that is super popular during Spring, middle-start of wildflower season. If you're at the Park when it's warmed up for Spring--April to June presently, who knows with climate change, amirite?--you'll see some AMAZING WILDFLOWERS...
