Totally amazing, hippie-type boardwalk! I definitely recommend PB + J, which had a ton of handmade jewellery and great stickers (plus some resident cats), as well as the metalworking shop, which had wonderful handmade metal goods like charms AND the coolest garden out back, which you can tour for free. The rock shop was also amazing- the prices were really reasonable, I got 5 polished stones for 5 dollars! In any case, this boardwalk is super cool and artsy, and a great place to go to relax and have fun! Totally recommend all...

The Makanda boardwalk is a group of artisan shops located in ten or so stores owned by artists and importers. If you're looking for a unique gift for someone else or for yourself, Makanda is the place to go. I live in Springfield IL and would make the trip down to this place anyday. It is so magical and beautiful. Sassy Nana Gifts is great little shop. Pam and Jane at PB&J have a great store and very friendly. Of course the Rainmaker and his Mystical Garden is a must see. And then the Makanda Trading Co. is awesome.
