This lake was beautiful.. BUT.. IT HAS LEETCHES!!! 😳😬😵 I was very unhappy with the fact that there are no signs or reviews about this, which is truly more alarming then anything else. My children played in the deep end the entire time and they didn't have not one on them but i walked through the shallow end to get out and my legs and inbetween my toes were covered. Assuming they are probably in the sand where most of the little ones play. When i asked the lifeguard about it, he was so nonchalant about trying it, trying to reassure me that they are as small as a grain a rice and wont pierce the skin but i noticed it because it almost felt like i was poked by something and i looked down and noticed them. I would of been less grossed out had there been warning signs about them assuming alot of people dont rinse off with the shower there because there is only one. We left immediately and i truly probably wont be back. Aside from this fact, It was a gorgeous lake. There is a concession stand and boat rentals. The lake is clear and theres alot of parking and grass area but that was not a good first experience for me. If you still choose to go here PLEASE BE MINDFUL FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN TO RINSE OFF ONCE...
Read moreLake wilderness is a nice lake for kayaking and swimming I guess. It’s my go to lake with my dad since we have always gone there. It’s pretty great kayaking into the middle of the lake, free parking if you can find a available spot.
But for swimming, I would not recommend it as much as kayaking. It’s overcrowded during the day and there is still people at the evening. The water is greenish brown & it has an unpleasant smell. After swimming there is literally small greenish brown leeches stuck on your feet.
The lake is dirty where most people smell & there is random stuff floating in the water (bandages, moss, sticks, etc).. also many parts of the water is warm.. which I guess you know what that means.
I guess it’s okay if you just want somewhere to swim or relax during a hot summer day...
Read moreGorgeous views, lots to do, wonderful family excursion. This place has a swim area for families that opens with a lifeguard at noon each day during the summer. It is surrounded by multiple hiking/bicycling paths for adventures in nature and also includes an arboretum. If the lake itself and the beautiful surrounding trees are not enough, there is a playground, tennis courts, grass field for sports, and a snack bar. Both the playground and the swim area have easily accessible restrooms and sinks as well. Keep in mind that paddle boards and boats are required to keep a distance from the roped...
