It’s the only ‘public’ beach/park I found on my brief stay on Key Colony Beach. There are many restaurants nearby and they all serve a high quality of food and refreshment!
Also nearby is a PAR3 golf course and Tennis courts and Pickle Ball!!
Sunset Park is a perfect tiny beach to relax at before or after a meal. Endless benches…under lovely well sculpted beach and Sea Oats and Palm Tree lined pathways. I lost myself here while playing w cameras for a client’s social media video shoot. Figured if anyone would not enjoy azure blue aqua backdrop and sky - white shore line waves splashing against rocks surrounded by smooth white sand - they’d be a minority. So filmed it I did. And a couple of photos. If you go don’t expect to be able to swim, fish or fully immerse yourself it’s sandwiched between two long boat docks attached to residential homes and i’m guessing no one wants people swimming out into a busy boating ‘roadway.’ As I said i’m guessing. It is a perfect place to be quiet and listen to the beach sounds! Or hang out w a picnic under a palm or just doze. Bathrooms on site.
Plenty of parking. I’d say I’d pay people to have me shoot their photo’s here. Not sire that is a smart business decision tho....
Read moreWhat an absolute disappointment. My siblings and I were very excited when we found out we were staying only a mile away from this park. We walked out and by the time we got there, we were all ready for a good swim. The sign there? No swimming. No WADING. Yet there is a sign that says "To access the water's edge, turn right." Well, you can access it but you can't access it. Absolutely disgraceful. There was a sign warning for crocodiles but any Florida native knows that there's not a sufficient habitat for them around this area so you really wouldn't run into one. Upon looking at the other Google Reviews now, I see that there is no swimming, so I guess it's my mistake, but I'm still salty about it (pun intended). Additionally the park closes at 7 pm and sunset this time of year isn't until 8, so the name "Sunset Park" is very misleading. All I can say is don't make the same mistake we did. I hope you're reading this...
Read moreLoved this place. This is a hidden gem on the way to keywest. The town is marvelous and is perfect for a night stop. You can easily find some accomodation nearby and then visit nearby places like the sunset park and the Bahia Honda state park. We came during the day and loved the place. Again came in the evening to watch sunset. This place is not hyped and is no less from the sunset viewing in Key west. The park name is 100% justified as you will witness a perfect sunset in the keys.
There are ample seating benches and the beach is clean. Though not that suitable for bathing, you can at least have you feet in the water. There is a pier as well to watch the sunset. A lot of greenery makes this park a definite visit. There is clean washroom and ample parking available. Enjoy...
