Terrible experience.
The Good: ☆ the veggie burrito was absolutely delicious; very flavorful and had a great ratio of ingredients. The beef tacos were also great. ☆ the restaurant was not busy at all when we arrived. We were the only customers for the first part of the meal. It was a wonderful quiet reprieve after a long day of snorkeling and exercising in the hot sun.
The Bad: ☆ fully half of the 6 meals we ordered came ice cold (room temperature). This was annoying with some things but egregious in cheesy chicken nachos. ☆ despite the fact that the restaurant went from totally empty to not particularly busy, the wait times for everything were absolutely ridiculous. ☆ drink refills did not happen. That really sucked at the end of a long hot day - we were all dehydrated and super thirsty. After bringing out one round of drinks, the waitress disappeared for 20-30 minutes. Not fun for those who ordered coke, got a small 12 oz bottle, and then couldn't ask for a glass of water to keep sipping on. I literally never got a refill on my water. ☆ they charged for chips and salsa by the basket. The chips were fine but the salsa was profoundly unimpressive.
All in all, we will not be going back. The convenience of El Molcajete being less than a half mile from our airbnb does not nearly make up for the egregiously poor...
Read moreVisited this restaurant and there are a couple of of things they could improve on. The salsa we were given could use some work. It was thin and without much substance. You expect a salsa from an “authentic” Mexican place to be over the top. Salsa isn’t that hard to make this could be greatly improved. It was more like a sauce. We also ordered queso. This was sub par for a “authentic” Mexican. It was nothing more than a jarred cheese sauce from the grocery store. I’ve never had a yellow cheese sauce from a Mexican restaurant, it’s always white. The positive was we ordered Tacos and they were Great! Meaty and flavorful! They were street taco size which I Love. The two sauces we had with them was really good. I also had a chili Relenos. It was the biggest I’ve ever had from a restaurant. Full of cheese and cooked perfectly! The restaurant was Very clean and our waitress was good and the service was quick. I would like to come back again when we pass through the Keys. I hope they improve the couple of things that the other customers have left comments on. Good luck to your...
Read moreThe other review is obviously fake, the place was overall horrible. To start, we were the only ones in the restaurant and it still took a pretty long time to make the food, which was way overpriced for such small portions. You would have to pay $4.00 for each small handfull of chips and watered down salsa and excluding water, you had to pay for any refills (which was mostly ice anyways). Our server did not seem to care at all, she mainly just watched T.V. or texted on her phone. When we finally recieved our food (after about 30 min) it was dissapointing. I ordered nachos and once again they threw a small handfull of chips on a plate and put a tiny bit of processed cheese on it. It tasted good, but it was not worth 8 dollars. The whole experience was kinda awkward too, as we were the only ones in the building, so we were all kinda wispering or not talking at all. Overall we hated it, and I would never recommend this place to a...
