Overall we enjoyed our experience staying in a home in Key Colony. We had a couple of issues with some home repairs while we stayed which prevented us from using the pool and the dishwasher a couple of days. Also the home we stayed in had labels on everything outlining ALL of the rules including that we could not move anything in the house. We felt a little resctricted staying in the house and purposely made sure everything was in its original place when we left. After carefully abiding by the house rules, you can imagine my surprise when we received our deposit less $20 for a lamp that the housekeeper said wasn't in the house. We absolutely left the home eactly as we arrived with the lamp in place. Unfortunately, the realty office does not check the house between rentals so they rely on the housekeeper to tell them if there should be deductions from the deposit. My issue isn't about the $20, its more the principle that a 3rd party determines whether or not I receive a full refund on my deposit. How do they know that the housekeeper didn't break the lamp and then report it missing??? When I brought this up to the representative on the phone she told me that this housekeeper has always cleaned this house so they believe what she says and that she didn't want to have to explain to the owneres why she didn't charge us for a missing lamp. I was also told that she would go to the house in 2 weeks to look for the lamp.... I hope nothing else is missing or broken 4 weeks later because they may try to charge me for those repairs and replacements as well! I would recommend that anyone staying in one of these properties films or photographs each room before you leave so that you have proof of how you left the house. Without this issue I would have probably given the home a 4 star rating, but will now only...
Read moreWe had one issue which was a broken toilet seat and maintenance came by same day and fixed it even though we told them it was not a big deal. We just wanted to let them know so they could fix it between us leaving and the next visitors arrival. But the maintenance man insisted and it was fixed before we got back from dinner.
Our entire experience was positive. We arrived after hours but there was still an agent waiting for us to give us keys. We found the place very clean and the kitchen was very updated. We used the kitchen quite a bit as this was mainly a fishing trip for us so we had fresh fish several nights. We stayed 2 weeks. We had car trouble and the realty office was quick to recommend a place. Other than than we didn't have to deal with the office much while we were there but the couple email I sent were answered same day, right away. All of my communications with them before the rental were the same, quick and easy to do business with.
I can't speak for all the units, but driving around I can't imagine any being bad and our unit was quite good. Advice... KCB takes their speed limits seriously. 25 means 25 and 15 to go around the corner means 15. Don't test it! That actually makes it great as you will definitely want to walk/jog/ride bikes around and knowing that you will not have to deal with any...
Read moreMuchas Gracias to Lisa at KCB Realty! This trip was our first to the Florida Keys and we really loved this island. We had a rental right on a canal and then having a membership to the Cabana Club that came with the rental meant we could go the beach whenever we wanted. Of course, we rented a boat so my husband could go fishing every day but I was afraid the kids would be bored while he was out fishing, but there were lots of activities for us in the area that made the kids happy. They particularly loved the Turtle Museum that Lisa suggested. And the Crane Museum’s pirate ship! My son went crazy for that. The rental staff really made us feel at home and went the extra mile to help us find our way around since we are not from the United State and didn’t know anything about the Florida Keys. But they were right there whenever we had a question. The house was squeaky clean and had lovely modern furniture and more beds than we could use. It also had a barbacoa on the patio so we could grill up the fish without getting the...
