Was referred to Smalls Food Store for catering by a wedding venue and I've been told the food is great. My boyfriend started trying to contact the person in charge of catering in February but it was always "he's not in" or "he will be in tomorrow" but when my boyfriend would call the day he was supposed to be there they'd say "he's gone for the day" even though it was only 11am. So finally by June or July we decided to just go in person and try to speak with this man running catering in person since his employees said he'd be in that day. He wasn't there but another nice man said he'd write it down to hold our place but said he could not take the deposit right away. Told me he wrote everything down and we could come pay in September because they weren't sure what the guidelines would be come September regarding food service due to the virus.
Well then came September and about 3 weeks before our wedding my boyfriend is still trying to contact the man in charge of catering to give him our food choices and pay. My boyfriend for the first time FINALLY got to speak with him on the phone and the man said we should have paid September 1st and they gave our spot away..... even though I tried to pay in full or put a deposit down when I went there back in July and no one would allow me to pay. Needless to say I called myself to speak with this man and he proceeded to tell me he already notified me during a phone call months ago I needed to pay by September 1st to hold my spot. I've never spoken to or called the man til today so that was just completely untrue. Then the story changed that he left me a voicemail. Then it went back to he spoke with me the day we went to the store. All of this was untrue. I explained how hard it was to contact him in the first place and we tried to just get someone at the store to take our payment yet, we were told no. So needless to say we were left scrambling all because of disorganized business. So I'm rating them a 2 because I never tasted the food but heard it was good. There was a variety of mainly beef and pork products at the meat counter. There was also some chicken, sausage, and bratwurst at the side cooler. I did not notice the variety of meat bundles until I had already placed my order for ribeye. I will definitely be returning here for future meat purchases.
