HORROR STORY-OUR LOVED ONE WAS JUST BURIED THERE YESTERDAY. BELIEVE ME, I HAVE BEEN TO MANY FUNERALS OF VARYING DEGREES/VARYING 'COSTS' BUT THIS WAS A BURIAL NOT EVEN FIT FOR A DOG. OUR FATHER WHO MIGHT HAVE BEEN POOR FINANCIALLY, AND HAD A VERY SMALL INSURANCE POLICY (under 10K) ALLOTTED FOR FINAL EXPENSES AND BETWEEN THE RIP OFF FUNERAL PARLOR AND THE BURIAL HE HAD WAS LITTLE MORE THAN THROWN ON THE BACK OF A DIRTY PICK UP TRUCK (HEARSE WAS NOT USED TO BRING CASKET TO HOLE BECAUSE IT WAS "TOO MUDDY"~FUNERAL DIRECTOR). THEN, WE INSISTED THAT WE DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE MUD, WE WANTED TO SEE THE PLACE WHERE HE WOULD BE INTERRED. THEY WERE STILL DIGGING THE HOLE, WITH A BACKHOE. THE HOLE WAS BARELY 5 FEET DEEP, AND MORE LIKE 4 FEET WITH MOUNDS OF DIRT ALL AROUND IT, SO WE COULD NOT COME NEAR TO THE EDGE TO DROP OUR FLOWERS INTO THE PLACE WHERE HE WOULD BE LAID TO REST. AS A MATTER OF FACT HE WAS NOT LAID. HE WAS DROPPED INTO THE DITCH (BECAUSE IT REALLY WASN'T A HOLE) FROM THE PICKUP TRUCK, AND THAT WAS IT. HORRIBLE. AS I SAID, MY DOG WAS TREATED BETTER AT HIS PASSING. THE ENTIRE BLOCK EIGHT WAS AN EMPTY DIRT "FIELD" THAT HAD NOT BEEN SEEDED AT ALL FOR GRASS. THERE WAS A SMALL AREA OF SWAMP LAND TOWARD THE BACK AREA OF THE CORDONED OFF AREA THAT THEY CALLED BLOCK 8 WHICH IS ACTUALLY NOTHING MORE THAN A DIRT POTTERS FIELD. THAT IS WHAT HE GOT FOR A BURIAL...BURIAL IN A POTTER'S FIELD. DISGUSTING FUNERAL PARLOR-DISGUSTING CEMETERY DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. THEY CAPITALIZE ON RELIGIOUS FAMILIES WHO CANNOT BRING THEMSELVES TO CREMATE, BUT HONESTLY, IT WOULD BE BETTER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. THE CEMETERY WAS ALSO QUITE UNKEMPT NOT HAVING UPRIGHT GRAVE STONES AND NOT ALLOWING SO MANY THINGS (THE GRAVES DO NOT ALLOW GLASS, ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS, NO UPRIGHT HEADSTONES, BUT THE MEMORIAL PLATES HAVE GRASS GROWING OVER THEM-CANADIAN GEESE EXCREMENT ALL OVER THE PLACE-REALLY THE WORST PLACE EVER!!) UPDATE: They told me today that this is exactly what to expect for an 'inexpensive' burial...in other words they do not deny any of it, this is exactly how they do things for financially disadvantaged people - not so much as a piece of cardboard for the family to stand on when they were told they could climb the hill of mud to peer over the mound of dirt the backhoe was dumping on the side of the...
Read moreI buried our friend, Betty M. Payne, at this cemetery in May 2009. I used the Freeman Funeral Directors in Freehold, NJ. Everything was handled with care and I was satisfied. The funeral director was in charge and handled all the interactions with the cemetery. I never had a problem. Our friend had no next of kin available for the burial, but we had thirty friends and acquaintances show up for the service. It was the most reasonable funeral I had arranged in the recent past. I had used the same funeral director for my mother-in-law's burial in April 2007, and that burial was more expensive as it was in a different cemetery.
On Saturday, March 15th, 2014, we visited the grave site. My friend's son had not placed a grave marker at his mother's grave in almost four years.
The woman in the office explained their requirements for a bronze plaque, 24" x 12", as a grave marker. She offered to have a monument place send us details about the choices. The cost quoted seemed very reasonable; the cemetery builds a foundation and installs the grave marker. They work together with the monument company.
I was impressed when we found my friend's grave site. The surrounding graves all have bronze markers. There is so much space around each grave. The graves are not crowded together at all as is usual in other cemeteries. The only graves that were closer were the ones where a husband and wife are buried side by side.
There are many marble benches throughout the grounds that make it easy to sit down while visiting your loved ones. They are donated by relatives of the deceased. We were considering getting one for our friend, but there is already one close to her grave site that was installed by someone else's relatives.
We also noticed that since the ground is barren, and free of grass or scrubs, there is no need to pay for "perpetual care" as is common at other cemeteries.
My friend's grave is close to one side of the cemetery where there are many trees at its border. It's a nice setting.
The only possibly negative thing we noticed were the many Canadian geese that are prowling around on the property. The ground must be so fertile due to the bird droppings. This is nature. Our friend would be happy to know that her remains are participating naturally in the...
Read moreY’all need to hire someone new to help people find graves/customer service. There’s a caucasian lady in the office and she was no help and I don’t know how else to describe her. All she did was watch my bag of electronic for 20 minutes while I tried hopelessly to find my mother’s grave and she didn’t even open the door to receive the bag. She made me put it through the little window like I got a disease or something . I flew in from Phoenix Arizona to see my mother who was buried in 2016 and all this lady could do to help was suck her teeth and tell me “yah I cant take you out there if my boys were around they could”. They’re were at least two males workers I seen driving in a dumb truck she had “boys” around to help. She also lied and said my family visited a lot this year so they couldn’t mark the gravesite. Apparently you can only show people(mark the grave) where they’re loved ones are buried three times a year, and my sister confirmed no one had been there this year so the lady straight up lied. She wouldn’t write the first and last name of people buried next to my mother to make it easier to find her or the ones buried above and below her. I couldn’t find her location with the single name lackluster diagram she wrote me. She just wanted to leave, told me she was leaving at 2:30 it was raining as well. Like if your insensitive or lazy you shouldn’t work in the field of death, where emotions, speed and intensity are needed. You received 46 inches of rain every year in the tri-state area, the most rainy months are feb, mar, apr, may, jun, and Oct you mean to tell this lady half asses her job half of the year? No, she gaffing(dismissing) people all the time I can bet. Seriously I don’t know if it was racism or insensitivity and I don’t care which one cause both leave hurt emotions. Please fix this and get someone who actually helps and cares about their job. I was literally the only one there around that time, she could’ve helped but no she just wanted to go home. Well now I’m going home back to Phoenix Arizona and I didn’t get a chance to see my moms site and it’s all because of your customer service lady. I and god will not forget this. If I become rich enough I’m relocating her body with my...
