We rented the family pavilion here for my daughters birthday this past weekend. The shelter was really nice. Very clean, private bathrooms, supplied trash cans/bags, and firewood. Five stars for the pavilion. Her party was only 2 hours long, but during this time we had 3 different encounters with other people at the park. The first happened while I was setting up. I heard a lot of screeching outside so I peeked outside the door and some woman was moving the picnic table that was attached to the pavilion RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOOR WE WERE USING. Not a few feet away, but close enough to where we couldn’t use the door. I explained we rented this pavilion for a party and she is now in the way of the door. She was definitely annoyed with me and told me it was the only outlet in the park, but she guesses she will move the table. She then sat right outside the door to our party for the rest of the time. Next, during the party, while we were all inside eating, a father and son come right in the facility to use the restroom. They didn’t ask. They just walked right on in. Then a man came inside to fill up his water bottle. There is a building right next to ours with public restrooms and water fountains. I understand this is not the parks fault for the behavior of the public. 5 stars for the facility and 3 for the experience. There definitely needs to be more than a faded sign in the doorway exclaiming there is no public restrooms in...

Read moreThis is pertaining to the pool employees/park management: I took my family to the pool for a nice afternoon. Pool is clean and plenty to do; however, the lifeguards and management are either incompetent or apathetic (seems like apathy is the primary motivation). Unsupervised teens running around and jumping in shallow-small-kid-area water, near many 5-year-old child. One 14-year-old nearly hit my daughter. This was after the lifeguards “got onto him” several times for running around the pool and jumping near people. I approached the lifeguards and asked them to address the kid, but they just smiled and kept their mouths shut. They knew the kid I was making a complaint about. Since they didn’t say anything, I addressed the kid and told him to quit because he could hurt someone. I was told by staff that they are liable if something happens to a kid, if they get hurt because the staff was negligent. I spoke with the park superintendent. He listened to my complaint, but didn’t offer assurance, as it pertains to correcting the problem. So, if you want a nice, clean pool for your small children to play, the pool is great…but keep a close eye on your kids (and other kids) because staff isn’t doing their job, and don’t seem to care about patron safety. Go to Leiber State Park or McCormick’s Creek for a...
