Do not go to this park after dark. I went to Scheve Park at around 12:30 AM, It was quiet and seemed completely empty, but I could not have been more wrong. After spending a short time at the park I began to hear a tapping noise, it sounded as if it was coming from all around me. It quickly turned from a tap to a scratch and got progressively more violent. Looking back on it, I probably should have ran, but my curiosity got the better of me. Shortly after I passed the kiddie playground, I heard the gate slam violently. I turned quickly but there was nothing there. I walked over to the gate to see what could have caused that, but there was no animals or people. This terrified me. I started running to my car but I got extremely dizzy and tripped. I was knocked out for maybe around 15 minutes, and in this time I had a horrible nightmare, but I'm not sure if it was really in my head. During this nightmare I looked up after I had fallen onto the ground and saw a man tower over me, he was smiling with the most terrifying smile I have ever seen, his smile reached from ear to ear and his teeth were shark like knives, I passed out again then woke up around 15 minutes. I quickly ran back to my car after I had woken up and I was able to leave safely. For this experience I am going to have take a star off of this review. It is a great park but I am afraid it is haunted by demons. Stay...

Scheve Park is one of those hidden gems that locals love and visitors are pleasantly surprised by. It’s huge, well-maintained, and has something for everyone.

🌳 What I loved: • Tons of green space for walking, lounging, or playing • Multiple playgrounds, including fenced-in areas (great for younger kids) • Splash pad & pool options for summer fun • A disc golf course, skate park, and dog park for extra activities • The fried chicken from nearby Mascoutah restaurants hits different after a day here 😉 • A charming restored train depot and caboose that give the park extra personality

🎯 It’s perfect for family outings, group gatherings, or even just a peaceful solo walk. The pavilions and ballfields are often busy, but there’s always space to enjoy the park at your own pace.

If you’re anywhere near Mascoutah, it’s worth the detour.

I love living so close to a park....but this park's playground is extremely neglected. I've lived here for only five years and I've seen so many low effort fixes go into this poor playground. The equipment is extremely outdated (most are older than the children playing on them). They rarely seem to focus on the upkeep of the playgrounds to put money elsewhere. It is dangerous at times and I'm surprised the city hasn't sued. It feels like the city doesn't have a very informed parks and rec office, or they don't know what they are doing. The fixes over the years have been cheap bandaid fixes, that break or wear down within a season.

People will blame the children for "breaking" the equipment but we need to see the bigger picture here. Children are meant to climb and play, worry free. It is your job to handle the upkeep of parks for your citizens.

They could have easily done several fixes over the months but have not. Instead we now have two dollar generals and a poorly...

This is our favorite park! They have a large playground/equipment for older kids, and a nice size area for smaller kids that is fenced in!! This is a huge plus for this toddler mommy!! And there's a variety of things for small kids to play on, including, my personal favorite, a swing where you can sit and swing and it has a spot for you to put your little one, so you can swing together! I would give it 5 stars alone for this! Has a sidewalk that gies all the way around the park for walks, lots of open area for washers to kids to play. A few covered pavilions and BBQ puts, and it looks like they're completing a water splash area too!
