El Sombrero — Restaurant in Mascoutah

I love the guacamole here. It contains tomatoes and onions, and has a great flavor. I had the shrimp quesadilla. They make it with fresh vegetables like carrots, broccoli and squash tucked inside with a little cheddar cheese. It is not heavy like at some other places, but is still very satisfying. My husband had the steak fajitas. He likes that they put a lot of steak on it. He was a little disappointed that he has only onions and peppers. We wanted a quick meal after a day of traveling. This restaurant came highly recommended, so we gave it a try. The red salsa was good, but the chips were kind of greasy. We ordered the Guacamole appetizer. It was lacking flavor and was overpriced for the serving size.

The Chiles Relleño was recommended as very good. I ordered one, and it came out a bit greasy, and my request for green sauce was ignored.

I can’t think of anything they need to improve. The patio is peaceful. The food was amazing. They didn’t have grilled chicken salad on menu but he made it for me anyway.
