The Thomas Dambo Trolls are OUT OF THIS WORLD!! 200% Recommend seeing them!! The Bird King is by far the biggest and most amazing...he should be...he's THE KING... I've seen all the other 5 trolls here in the Pacific Northwest and each one is SO worth going and checking out. They are in Ballard, West Seattle, Bainbridge, Issaquah and Portland, OR. I am currently mapping out a road trip for this summer to go and TROLL HUNT throughout the rest of our nation. Vashon is a beautiful Island and is a great day trip for you and or your family...the ferry ride from Fauntleroy to Vashon is quick (~20min) and there are lots of great restaurants in downtown Vashon (which is on the way to Point Robinson Park...where The Bird King resides)...plus there are plenty of awesome little local shops to check out in downtown Vashon as well...and to round out the trip you can take a short hike down to the Point Robinson Lighthouse also located at Point Robinson Park. Read moreAs someone who lives car-free in the city and uses public transport, I find it amazing that they would place this troll in one of the most remote and inaccessible places in the Seattle area. It is car-driver elitism. Getting to the island is easy even though Vashon has always fought tourism and development but demanded State provided high levels of ferry service. Limited bus service and a 3 mile walk one-way. Some rich islander used their connections to get it in their back yard. There are so many other places where trolls could have been placed but 4 out of 5 are in isolationist wealthy communities.
