Was looking for a church that has a heart for winning souls, leading them to Jesus. I've been looking for a very long time and love how we've found a place that does just that. Everyone is nice, welcoming, and inviting...a great place to feel like I belong. Been going about a month now. Love it! The search is over!! YES!!
Edited: It's now January 1, 2020, we've been going there for over two years, even though it seems much longer! Before we moved to Texas, my walk with God was very dry, boring, and distant, much like the land of the state we lived in. I just couldn't connect with God like I wanted to for the eight years, even though we went to church weekly.
Since being at Anchor, my walk with God is very fulfilling and satisfying to my soul. Tears often stream down my face during the worship. I'm connecting with God during that special moment with God. The lyrics to the songs continue to the rest of the week, and I think of them when I first wake up. The worship has changed my daily walk in that I am able to worship God on my own daily, not only on Sundays. All this has been a tremendous help and attributed greatly to my role in customer service at work. I view it as serving God and pleasing Him as I serve others. I pray daily and spend time with Him FIRST, getting up hours earlier before leaving for the day, praying for grace to get through the day in a stressful, demanding, quick paced environment. There's NO WAY I would still be at that job, if it weren't for Anchor and God!!
One reason we moved to Texas was for one of my kids. They got plugged into Anchor and started serving before anyone else in the family. There was a bible study going on after school, and one of my other kids started going to it. That child is a core person there, needed, wanted, and loved by all as they serve behind the scenes for every event and more. As a family, we love serving faithfully in all the different areas of the church.
We are excited that the new building will be just two miles away from our home! What a huge blessing! Anchor...
Read moreI've been attending, my children and I, since Mother's Day. I was impressed that both the Pastor and his wife, at different times reached out to say hi that first day, it being a holiday and all. This is a rare church in the area in my experience. It's more common to have church bodies be cessationist- (and it feels too dead and dry to me that way). Anchor believes in gifts and in the Holy Spirit moving and active and working today, alive full of living water. Since I've experienced prophetic and healing in my own life, I've longed for a church community like this, that is not only these things, but also Bible based with emphasis on the importance of the Word of God too - after all, everything taught aligns with the Bible so far and I haven't seen or heard any red flags. Prayers for Jesus to keep the church on the right track - the narrow road. So not everyone will be on board and that's ok as long as its right with Christ. I actually like when my young children are with me listening to the Pastor or guest speakers like Nick in the main service and experiencing the awesome worship music, and they like it too. Great to have them hear from a man of God and have him as a positive role model and teacher in their lives. Also, I simply love the name Anchor. The worst thing boats can do in storms is fight it, or head toward the shore where its shallow and they break up. Have to ride it out, anchor the ship. When you're rattled don't rush. Christ Jesus is our anchor ⚓️ in the deep. "It's better to get up into a lifeboat than get down into one" - most boats ride out storms and stay afloat: too many people have died going from a safer vessel to a small life raft in a panic. Anyway so much more it could be a sermon, but I'll leave that to the Pastor :) i wrote a devotional on it tho so this church feels...
Read moreLived and grew up in the McKinney area, attended big churches as a kid and witnessed church hurts in small churches growing up as teenagers and young adults and my husband and I were looking for a church home. We longed to be in fellowship with other believers and to be a part of and serve in a church. One night in bed, at 2am, I was googling "churches near me." Anchor Church was among the first 3 that popped up and I didn't even know it existed amongst the other more prominent churches in the area. I saw the 5 star reviews, decided to read through the reviews and they were all testimonies of how they found Anchor church and how much it has changed their life. I woke my husband up and told him, "I wanna go to this church tomorrow." (really, it was just in a few hours since it was 2am already lolz). We attended our first Anchor church service July 24, 2023 and the moment we walked in, we were greeted with multiple smiles and hellos. The worship was beautiful and Spirit-led and the preaching was convicting, funny, engaging, and most of all, it ignited our walk with God again. Pastors and staff are so welcoming and down to earth. It's not the kind of church where you go unnoticed and where you are just a face in the crowd and that means so much. We invited my husband's family and my girl friend and her little daughter and now we all attend together and we are so blessed to call Anchor our church home. My friend's little daughter always has a blast in Sunday school and always comes out talking about what she learned about Jesus. Highly recommend this church, I'll forever be grateful that God led us here. There's no accident with God, and finding Anchor felt like an intentional leading from...
