Some years ago, Collin County leveled some frivolous charges at my dad. My dad was charged for a door slightly damaged during a lease - and that damage had been repaid! He was criminally charged for the items put out by the Constable during his eviction. Yeah, I know, this stuff is crazy. But this is Collin County. I pleaded with Jane Roden of the District Attorney’s Office to be reasonable. But those in the office of District Attorney Greg Willis seem more interested in pursuing frivolous charges than real crime. Unfortunately, even though these charges were on their face totally bogus, the “justice” system here has kept them going. My dad stood on many occasions before Judge Corinne Mason, who treated my dad with blatant disrespect. Judge Barnett Walker followed suit. He berated my dad, screamed at him, and even seized him when he was walking around a free man, forcing him to sit for hours while the Judge left for lunch. My dad is a pretty soft-spoken guy, especially in front of these judges. He constantly reminds me of our duty to respect those in positions of authority. He refuses to act in anger, preferring only to fight for what is right. I cannot believe his calm in the face of this corruption.
This is not just about the judgeship, though. Like I say, the DA’s Office was responsible for getting this started. I have been to my dad’s hearings. I have seen the perjury on the stands by witnesses for the prosecution. I have met with Chief Prosecutor Bill Dobiyanski. I have sent certified mail to Greg Willis. I have emailed everyone. I have made it known that these guys have lied to indict my dad. But the “justice” system in Collin County does not care. And the landlord where my dad was, she was the one to file a lot of these frivolous charges. After the Constable pulled everything out of the house, the landlord grabbed a water hose and sprayed all of the furniture with water. I have done just as much to try to have charges filed against her, but no one in the DA’s Office will even hear me. In fact, I was thrown out of the office when I last visited to try to find justice for my dad.
The story doesn't end here. There are so many more details that paint the same picture. Ultimately, though, I would avoid this place if I were you. You are more likely to find justice elsewhere. It seems that Collin County has forgotten the definition of the word. I think it somehow got switched with the definitions of “power”...
Read moreMy experience at the Collin County Courthouse warrants a three-star rating due to significant security concerns and parking issues that detract from the overall experience.
One of the most concerning aspects is the poor job done by security personnel. The restriction on bringing water bottles or liquids into the courthouse, forcing individuals to rely on water fountains and vending machines, is not only inconvenient but also unprofessional. Additionally, the security checks conducted at the entrance are inadequate, leading to potential safety risks within the courthouse premises.
During my 4 years of employment at the courthouse, I observed numerous security issues that were not effectively addressed. There is a clear need for improved training and procedures to ensure the safety and security of everyone entering the courthouse.
Furthermore, the lack of separate parking for employees, which results in them sharing parking spaces with defendants and court participants, is a safety concern. Separate parking would not only enhance safety but also improve the overall experience for employees.
In summary, while the Collin County Courthouse provides essential legal services, there are significant areas for improvement, particularly regarding security protocols and employee parking arrangements. Addressing these issues would enhance the overall efficiency and safety of the courthouse environment.
