We were excited to try out this park in McKinney, but we were deeply concerned by multiple instances that occurred within only an hour. First, the nature trail was completely disheveled. There was trash and graffiti everywhere. It was difficult to walk along the majority of the path because it was laced in trash, deep brush, and mud. It was clear it had not been maintained in quite some time, or at least, minimally well. Second, while we were walking along the man-made pond area, there were young boys using fishing line to trap ducks (aren't they federally protected?) to then hold them up and take selfies with them for social media. This was incredibly disturbing, as everyone simply kept walking by mindless on their phones. I hope everyone understands that is animal abuse, and likely a felony. There were no parents in sight. Third, the women's restroom was honestly the most unkempt facility I have ever witnessed. I walked in and there was feces and urine all down the floor. Two stalls had piles of feces and toilet paper, one likely over a foot tall. It honestly looked like people were using the restrooms over each other's waste, one after another. What's worse is that this park is right next to a school. What is this? What dystopic reality are we in? I don't know if this is a privately owned or taxpayer-funded park, but either way, shame on whoever manages it. We will...
Read moreWeather was exceptional today for an outing. So, decided to explore the area and search ended on towne lake recreation area. It’s a decent sized recreational area with playground for kids, fishing pier and boating rentals for adults, more than a mile walking and biking trail, volleyball coat. Lake features a fountain and seems like a favorite area for swan and geese. Could see all ages enjoying their especially kids, people jogging and running , lots of families and people walking with their pets . I also had my lunch basket prepared and had a pleasing lunch at the sitting area. Only downside is that it is situated near 75. So, the peaceful environment was disturbed by the continuous sounds of fast paced vehicles. Also since it rained day before , there were many paddles formed which was hindering the smooth walk . Wish they will take more care of this area . Movies 10 is right across the street. We planned to spend our morning and afternoon time there, so after a good walk early in the morning, followed by picnic lunch, went on to watch the afternoon show of Aquaman . One can plan for a low cost relaxing family outing in this area. Also, there is a lot of space...
Read moreTake my review with a grain of salt. This review is based on multiple visits here for various activities such as walking, going to the play area with the kiddos and to walk with the doggo. There are always creeps with no kids at the play area, there are creepy guys with cameras recording the women as they walk or work out ( had to call police a few times) people with aggressive dogs off leash. Positive things: the park is well maintained and clean. There is a lot of diverse wildlife that calls the park home. There are plenty of spots to have lunch or grill. Parking is ample. If you happen to visit it may be pleasant or you may be annoyed based on the things aforementioned. It's a nice park looking from the outside in, however there has been too many neg occurrences for me to give a higher...
