My husband is a train enthusiast and I am not. So I'm usually just along for the ride when we are on his train adventures. But I genuinely had a really good time here. Part of that was because our tour guides Alan and Jeff were very friendly and very knowledgeable. There are so many historical items and details to see. The model railroad layout was great and I love all the details put into it. My favorite part was touring the dining car, caboose, mail car, and steam engine. And because I am a Lincoln enthusiast, the fact that this place has a connection to Abraham Lincoln was the cherry on top for me. Read moreStopped by to check out the museum and was pleasantly surprised. We got a personal tour and explanation of the railroads that interacted in the Mendota area up until 1981. They have a lot of railroad artifacts including CV&Q, Illinois Central, Milwaukee Road, and other various local railroads in the area.
