A beautiful library, but taking two stars off because 1) you can't reserve study rooms online and even in-person reservations are limited to two hours a day (even if nobody else wants to use the room, you can't renew it for more hours) and 2) on my visit to the library at 3pm a bunch of unsupervised children came in, were extremely noisy and playing a game of tag..... Nobody enforced any kind of quiet. It turns into a daycare. I don't know why they can't go run around in the several parks next to the library.
So, nice building. Great for picking up books and maybe a quick browsing through the shelves. Not a good place to do anything that requires quiet or concentration - like studying or working.
BTW: Being in the study room does NOT help with noise as they are essentially roofless enclosures within the larger library room. Parents, if your kids are waiting here for you to pick them up, please teach them some basic library etiquette.
UPDATE 1/19/22: Downgrading my rating. The noise is just as ridiculous as before, there are still middle school students running around the bookshelves, but today there is also someone bouncing a basketball INSIDE the library. Don't come here to...
Read moreUPDATE: Being close to multiple schools the parents tell the kids to wait to be picked up there. As a result it is quite exciting. The smell of diapers, kids wrestling and running about, adolescents chatting, very few places to work, and adults expressing their opinions to the staff about the free-for-all. Be sure to adjust your expectations and perhaps take some noise cancelling headphones! And the WiFi still crawls when the kids are all here...
ORIGINAL: I did not even know this library existed. Went there yesterday for the first time. Good water fountain. Good lighting. Good computers. No crazy librarians trying to shush you so people were actually talking in low voices. (Bring head phones if that disturbs you.) Temperature was not too hot or cold, just right. Only thing that sucked was the WiFi. Seems like they have it on a loop where they turn it off for minutes and then back on for 30 seconds. Probably to keep kids from streaming stuff. So in a way this is even...
Read moreI came to this library since I just moved to the city and it’s the closest one to me. Upon arriving there were so many noisy teenagers both outside and inside the library. So there would be no peace and quiet if you ever needed to study. The woman at the front desk kept rushing the entire process for me to get a library card. She very clearly does not know how to work with helping guests. I do believe she may have racially discriminated against me because she was more patient, kind and attentive to the white woman that came after me to...
