So, the only problem I had here was my hesitation to give this place five stars. It's honestly not very big, so I don't want anyone expecting the worst from this five star rating, but I didn't want to ding them a star for something they don't really have any control over, so instead I'm going to give five reasons this place is worth a stop.
The incredible building. I've lived far too much of my live along Highway 74 and I've passed by this place for DECADES. We stopped once back when it still sold fruit, and I don't remember being able to afford anything, but the building itself was incredible. It a gigantic towering hilariously over enginered barn. It's really huge, and has this beautiful wood all around the building and a cool water tower windmill combo near the giant windows. It's like it was purpose built to be a memorable landmark. I guess it used to be a working farm, but it's really quite something to see.
The cars. The barn is now a cute little auto museum, with a variety of cars from different decades. They had something called an Auburn Boattail, from 1935 (kinda) in the gorgeous green and the lines on ths car were insane. The had a couple of Corvettes and a T-Bird I never really looked at because I spent the whole time gawking at this thing. It looks like something the Red Skull would drive to a picnic. It's a crazy machine. That's what all my terrible pictures are and they do NOT do it justice.
The staff was so friendly. My wife works at the DMV and heard about this place from the owner who invited us to come down. We made a detour over the weekend and stopped by and you'd think we were family they were so happy to see us!
It's free! Stop in, it wont cost anything! They have some neat cars, a couple of fun displays and even a tiny gift shop. It's absolutely worth the drive just to take pictures. Go check it out.
Seriously, the Auburn haunts my dreams. I want to drive it like Goofy in the old cartoons, ripping down the highway like the Road Warrior or Death Race....
ย ย ย Read moreI recently visited the Motte Historical Car Museum in Menifee on a Saturday morning, and it was the perfect time to go! The museum was nice and quiet, allowing me to take my time exploring the exhibits without any people there. The entry is free and they have plenty of free parking as well, which made my visit convenient. The staff ladies were friendly and shared their insights about the museum, making the whole experience feel welcoming.
The collection is small, but itโs packed with amazing history, featuring vehicles from 1910s - 1960s. Each car has its own unique story, and I enjoyed seeing how automotive design and technology evolved over the years. If youโre a car enthusiast or just looking for a fun way to spend an hour, I highly recommend checking out the Motte Historical Car Museum. Itโs a hidden gem off the 74 hwy that offers a fascinating glimpse into the past.
They have a gift store where you can purchase some fun memorabilia while...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a wonderful place this is! I took my nephew here, he is visiting from Georgia, We were pleasantly surprised to find this fabulous Museum. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a friendly greeting, from there we were able to view the spectacular collection of family owned vintage cars, trucks, and motorcycles along with photos and history. The most exciting part was meeting Leon Motte who talked with us and informed us of the people in the many photos, along with (what would call) a mini VIP tour where he let us sit for a picture in a car. What a wonderful and rare experience this was! He is a very nice man. We learned of the farming that was done by his family. I canโt wait to go back with my husband and friends. It will be a favorite place to come with out of town guests. If you havenโt been here your in...
