Prediclosure: I do not post in hopes of gaining anything accept for the hopes of preventing someone else not getting to experience what my husband I have been blessed to experience and in the hopes of teaching others that this truly should always be an option for our community to use. It would be a sin not to, Wow!
I am a local of Metamora, my sister owns an establishment locally, and I had the blessing of attending Metamora High School my freshman and Sophomore year. My husband and I married in the Metamora Village Square in the fall of 2023 and then dedicated our son the day after our wedding at Black Partridge Park of Metamora, IL. Both were just incredibly beautiful, peaceful and spiritual. To be able to have my wedding here was the ultimate dream and it being affordable was an incredible blessing. Being a part of the community the last several years has been great, but felt more amazing to share the experience locally surrounded by family, friends and even neighbors. I planned everything, booking was a success and had the support over the phone with Monica. She was kind and did her best with what information she had and authority. Not only was was it a wonderful price but it especially brought us our hometown experience and brought over 100+ people to support the local establishments before and after the ceremony. I was expecting 150 people September 29th, 2023. A month before the wedding I had called only to find, Metamora HighSchool scheduled the square without booking. I suggest the use of a contract should this prevent it from happening again to anyone again. Only the Black Partridge Park holds contracts for events. With overwhelming frustration, knowing the highschool didn't make sure they were properly booked in advance, due to the amount of people they were expected, I was the lower priority. With lack of care from the highschool and one email correspondence after "I" reached out, with little to no empathy, answered a few questions I had. You'd think that with all the efforts made to show our local high school and community support, they too would care but no. I attended MTHS and it truly woke me up, that perhaps times are changing since I had attended. Would there enough time to move our wedding time up giving enough time to finish our ceremony, or break down our decorations? I was refunded the payment for rental, however it didn't change the fact, I still had to find a way to reach out to 150 people. I was offered additional seating if needed and that was much appreciated. Monica and I spoke numerous times and we came up with a way to make it work. The Metamora Police Department monitored and help keep our ceremony safe through the night, due to the time predicament. But, then water system was not turned off and everything I set out was soaked. While walking down the aisle I discovered everything, including my rugs soaked which in turn made my dress get completed stained and I was wet. All of these details have not destroyed the memory we created that day. I rented the upper floor of the cottage peddler for my bridal party and the groomsmen. That was wonderful and I totally suggest anyone do the same. The Cottage Peddler, Eli's coffee, Hanover's, The Room, the court house, and Dollar General gave great support for anything we could have possibly needed. Should you be looking for a venue- this is it! A beautiful location for a small to large ceremony on the perfect day. Thank you to the Mayor and his wife for overseeing everything...
