Bell County Historical Society — Attraction in Middlesborough

When I visited and posted my 5 star review I had no idea how it would impact my life. I had submitted some very old family photos for the Bell Co. Historical Society Book when they were taking submissions for publication. Recently I recieved a message from a 2nd cousin who I didn't know I had asking me to call another cousin. He had been here on vacation and visited the Historical Society and saw the old family photos with my name under each one. He didn't know who I was or how I had photos of his grandmother, who's my grandmother's sister! He had never seen my grandfather's photo until he saw the book. There were so many photos he had never seen. So it reunited our family and I am very grateful! Thank you to the Bell County...

Stopped by while visiting from Ohio. I walked into the library and was immediately confronted by a staff member who told me I should not be in there absent having made an appointment. She explained the need for an appointment was necessary to keep folks from walking off with the books. No where on the website does it say a researcher must schedule an appointment. It says so on the door, but that is no consolation after having driven there from far away. I will not be renewing my membership...

What a fantastic museum! The staff were incredibly informative and shared a lot of interesting stories about the location. They have a fine museum collection, and their local history library selection was exquisite. The passion of the staff and volunteers is clearly evident.

The museum is inside an old Carnegie Library and it has been very well restored....
