My name is Cheryl Hill, and I'm 73 years old. I want to COMMEND a few employees of your store at 539 N. Oak Avenue, Aldan, PA. Unfortunately, I don't know their last names, but would be willing to get them if you need them and are unable to. First, there is Maureen who works in the meat/seafood department. When I'm shopping for the beef briskets and I am looking for something that I know will cost me at least $70 but I'd like one under $100 for a 3 person family, she has consistently helped me even if it meant going in the back to try to find one. She has made suggestions for selections that would work for my small family. Secondly, there is Megan who works in the Deli department. She usually asks me how I'd like my items cut so neither of us wastes any of the product. When what I'm looking for isn't in the case, she dutifully trudges to the back to see if it is available back there - which it usually is. I know they're supposed to check anyway, but sometimes they don't bother because it's so busy and it's easier to say if it's not in the case they don't have it. Megan always takes the time to check for me if my desired item is not in the case. These two ladies ALWAYS make me fee like a valued customer. They are courteous, professional and go out of their way to provide a great shopping experience for me. Since I have a small but "finicky" family, I am usually in the market at least twice a week and am unable to exit without usually spending $100 or more - a fact that I can tell you has played havoc on my savings, but these employees make me feel valued as a customer and as a person, so I prefer spending my money in your store than other chain markets. These are the types of employees you want in your market, In this day and age when prices are continually climbing and everyone is searching for a bargain, it helps to be treated kindly, by thoughtful employees. I sincerely hope Giant will acknowledge the professionalism of these employees as they serve as a great example of how good employees should treat their customers! Finally, I will add Bill - a local manager with whom I shared my commendations of these two women. Bill himself impressed me by taking the time to listen to what I had to say. He did not "rush" me, although I'm sure he was busy. He thanked me for my comments, asked my name, and unlike the two local managers at a different Giant that I also frequent, who muttered under their breath and laughed at me before I could even get out of their hearing - Bill also made me feel like a valued customer. The store in Aldan is a neat, clean store with a variety of items and although not every employee seems anxious to be of assistance, they nonetheless are not usually off-putting and seem willing to help when asked. As a senior citizen this is greatly appreciated since I can no longer see as good to locate an item, or bend down to pick one up as well as I used to. Everyone can complain and I do as well, but usually because Giant has introduced me to a product which I like and begin to use and then discontinues stocking it - forcing me to visit a different chain store to purchase that item. However, I understand supply and demand, so I realize that particular product is not moving well, hence the discontinuance. Again, I just want to commend these employees and respectfully ask that Corporate recognize good employees...
Read moreToday is October 21st, 2025. I I had the worst embarrassing experience with Giants Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia PA 19147.
I had a full cart of groceries, there was a line behind me, at the register. The grocery was scanned and it was time to pay up. But for some odd reason, my debit card was rejecting . I tried every card in my wallet. A total of 5 cards, and none were successful. The cashier was super nice in the beginning, then turned 360 in seconds. I kept apologizing to the cashier and the people on line. Not understanding how ALL my cards were unsuccessful. I called my bank to see what the issue was. My Bank even, confirm the funds, that there shouldn’t be an issue. I even confirmed, the text authorization thru fraud alert.! Again unsuccessful.
The cashier was getting frustrated and started to be loud and rude. I told her, Wow you turned 360 in a snap of a finger. She got even louder saying how rude I am. I ask her …Do you think I want this to happen? She was so loud telling me this card only have 2 dollars and some change. And the next transaction only had $90.
I couldn’t understand why, my card only charged $90.
I told the cashier.. It is embarrassing as is for me and to publicly the amount was unnecessary.
Her shift was done, she stood to the side of the register, yelling out….”NOW THIS IS LOUD” like she was ready for a fight. Telling me I was the Rude one. How I was taking my frustration on her … Which was totally vise versa.
I understand her frustration as all 5 cards rejected. But being obnoxious and unreasonable was very unprofessional.
All of this happened as my 5 years old daughter was sitting in the cart.
I retry locking my card then re-unlocking it, AND FINALLY the transaction approved.
I walked out of Giants, Mad and Confused. I called the first credit card company Demanding an Answer of WHY the transaction didn’t go thru.
The representative was quiet and replied “but… there are “No History” of the Credit Card being used nor does the system, showed a rejection. Then the representative made a Very good point and said “If 5 cards rejected, maybe it’s the machine”
I politely ask if she can retry a different POS sale, on the same machine. Explaining to her , my debit card and Credit Cards are, from different banks. There was no reason for all 5 cards to be rejected . If the credit card machine was the issue. But she assured me the register and CC machine are pre-tested every morning.
I Drove home confused! ! Sat on the couch, turned on tv and Finally Got my Answer (Picture...
Read moreDanville, Pa store is run by morons. For over a year, I have called repeatedly every few months to inquire about home delivery service and each time was told NO, we don't have that, but larger Giant stores do. Being in a wheelchair, I usually order supplies from Walmart, but I also need frozen or refrigerated food too. I recently started buying from Aldi, because they deliver thru Instacart. Yesterday, to my surprise, I was informed by one of the Instacart delivery people that Giant also has this service called Giant Direct. I have seen it on the website so decided to see if it worked. Why don't the employees, including the manager know about this ? I put in an order yesterday from Giant Direct online, had it delivered today, then called the store to ask the deliver question AGAIN to the manager on duty. After being told NO once again, I told him that was not true and I just received a delivery from the store. The manager flip flopped and said "we don't provide the service, Instacart does. So, I said, "it doesn't matter who the service is through, your store provides food delivery to my home" and I said it very slowly. He commented that he did not appreciate the way I was speaking to him and he was going to hang up on me. He must be one of those Millennial's who are offended by everything. So, instead, I hung up on him. These people need to be informed on what services the store they work for provide to the their customers. They are loosing not only tons of customers who will shop where they CAN get deliveries, but potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in business, especially from people who are disabled. I never seen such a bunch of...
