I can't in all honesty write a good review but hesitate to write a bad one. However, this was our fourth Memorial Day in a row staying at this hotel. My son has also stayed here on two separate occasions. We were disappointed that we didn't get our first floor request. When my son checked in ahead of us, he told the manager how many times we've stayed there and she tried to accommodate us but was unsuccessful. I can understand if I made the reservations with less than a week's notice but I made the reservation with a first floor request on March 14. We were given room 204 but the manager (I believe her name was Chrissy?) stated that our next visit will be on the first floor. When our son came down to help us with our luggage, he told me he almost got stuck in the bathroom. I didn't have time to tell my husband before he got stuck. I had to push the door really hard to get him out. We decided to just deal with it and just not close the door too tight. I took a shower and then our son did. The water did not drain well at all. When I called the front desk to tell her about the two issues, I had moved the phone on the night table and got some kind of sticky gunk all over my hands. She offered to change our room but we had already taken two out of three showers and unpacked. After driving over eight hours, we were not thrilled about the idea of switching rooms so we just dealt with the issues. The next morning when we checked out, I told the desk clerk that the tub was all scratched and the glass globe over the light in the bathroom was cracked. I believe there was also a dead bug in it but I did not investigate it further. The clerk was nice enough to take off half the price of the room. We will probably stay there again next Memorial Day. This was only one bad stay out of six. I will say, however, that the new luggage carts are GREAT! Every hotel...
Read moreWe are here for the Carlisle Auto Parts Show for 5 nights ($179 per night) and made our reservations months in advance. Being loyal Choice Privileges customers with both a credit card and a rewards account for 20 years, we almost always stay at Choice Hotels when we travel. Unfortunately, this Choice property chooses to do things on the cheap. Housekeeping is by request only , but we don't dare ask the snippy desk clerk for Housekeeping. Our room only had 2 bath towel sets instead of 4, and the front desk was very snippy about giving us two extra (and quite frayed towels) so we could have some extra ones. You can have new towels if you put the dirty ones outside of the door each morning. We empty our own trash each day - fortunately there is a trash can on the hall that we can use. The complimentary breakfast is so bad that we went to the local Giant and purchased quality food for us to eat in our room. The front desk clerk works from morning to night and plays on her phone at the desk; therefore she is in a bad mood by the end of the night and does not embody the Choice Hotel brand well. The office manager plays computer games in her office. I wrote Choice Hotels to inform them of these issues, but no one responded so they were given an opportunity to talk with me before I wrote this review. The TV channels are confusing and are lacking compared to other Choice properties where we have stayed. We heard the upstairs neighbors all night long and they weren't doing anything but walking in their room. The hotel is very clean and you can have your packages sent to the desk there. However, if you want more personal hotel experience with daily Housekeeping, plenty of towels, a decent breakfast with an attendant and a friendly staff that actually works (the head of Housekeeping was the nicest to us of anyone), then I would stay...
Read moreNo one at check in desk when I arrived - sign said they would be right back - out cleaning a room...Ok... I had registered and paid online, so got my key quickly after that. Room was decent. Fridge did NOT get very cold and had no freezer, single cup coffee maker was nice. A/C/heat worked well, room was clean, bathroom was large with large walk-in shower, nice toiletries, but no extra tissues or TP. We were on 3rd floor at far end next to the stairs, so it was quiet at night. Beds were FIRM and pillows were SOFT- beware if you don't like firm beds. Dining area was very cramped. Had to wait in line for cold, tiny, pre-made, microwaved egg and cheese omelettes and greasy sausage, and only about 10 of each were brought out at a time. Ran out of 2 juice flavors, so had to wait for that. Others stood and waited about 15 minutes for waffle MIX, had 1 full size waffle maker and a 4-part mini waffle maker. Food area was like a tiny horseshoe, so people were crowding around waiting next to the egg/sausage & waffle machines which were right in the middle, so was difficult to get to other items. Bad design overall - they should put the waffle makers in their own separate area completely, put beverages in another area. Typical continental breakfast - cold cereal, day old pastries and bagels/toast, apples & bananas, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, instant oatmeal packets, beverages. Overall the stay was ok and hotel was nice, but I would plan on breakfast...
