we recently visited Sandy Hook, and it's an awesome place to spend a day. With a $20 entry fee per car, you get access to a clean and safe park with plenty of beach space and parking for everyone.

A Natural and Peaceful Escape Sandy Hook offers so many different spots to explore. The beaches are clean and peaceful, and the water on the inside hook is calm. Lifeguards are alert and helpful, which is a great comfort. It's also a cool place to see natural habitats for birds and other wildlife. For a truly special view, I recommend making your way to the end of the peninsula to see the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York City skyline.

History and More The area is also rich with history, as it used to be Fort Hancock, the first proving ground of the U.S. military. There are also nice trails that wind through forests of holly.

The public bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. Just remember to take your own trash out to help keep the...

Sandy Hook is a beautiful part of New Jersey history. The fort , beaches and Rangers are amazing. We enjoy bike riding on the paved multi use path and sitting on the beach. I see families, singles and everyone enjoying Sandy Hook. Stop in the officer's house open to the public and see a great part of our history. The volunteers, rangers and all staff at Sandy Hook deserve a hardy well done for maintaining the grounds and security of...

Everywhere on Sandy Hook is beautiful. Be careful to follow park rules, and take out your trash. Rangers answer to no one and are basically unsupervised and masters of their own world. They seem at odds with the park guests, are rude and often intrusive. Despite this, Sandy Hook is a beautiful unspoiled place...

Pristine beach with gentle waves that is part of Gateway, now upgraded to a National Park. While there are areas for people to gather on the bay side, the beach is a zero-waste zone, with showers and toilets spaced widely. The vibe is spiritual when there are not a lot of people around, like after Labor Day.
