Probably my least favorite of the “numbered” beaches, Third Beach is just alright. It’s noticeably smaller than First and Second Beach, and doesn’t have a cliff face on one side like the others. It also faces out onto the Sakonnet River instead of the open ocean, taking away from the beach day experience. While I don’t prefer it, if you have small children this may be a plus as there aren’t nearly as many waves here. Read moreWent here during the off season (early February) and it was great. Lots of parking. Warm day and it was not crowded at all. Plenty of space to roam. Our little guy is collar trained so we didn't have any concerns around other dogs (we leashed when another leashed dog was near) but please do not bring untrained dogs off leash.
