Update May 2024: It hasn't been very busy since covid. Even on weekends it can still be pretty quiet. Haven't seen any problem animals in a while. Still giving 4 stars because of all the sticker weeds that get into my dog's paws. Also the water fountain is hit and miss, water gets turned off regularly so I always carry a bottle just in case.

Original review: This is the biggest dog park in the area. There are 3 different sections. A very large area for large and sometimes small dogs. A large area for small dogs. And a small area that people use for puppies too small to play with other bigger dogs. I've also seen people use it for dogs who haven't been socialized or who are in training. There's something for everyone here. There are also training tools in the large area. Four stars because it can get a little rowdy on the weekends when it's busy and people who neglect and haven't trained or care about how their dog treats others. Mornings are a good time and plenty of friendly dogs...

Our German/Australian Shepherd, Luna adores this dog park. We would normally go to Beal Dog Park which isn’t very far but with all the rain Midland has been getting, it’s constantly flooded. Though Hogan Dog Park has quite a few more holes than Beal and the cleanliness doesn’t compare, I still enjoy taking her here to get her energy out! Be wary of other dog owners, though. Honestly, you would think people can’t read. If you see an aggressive dog, you might as well either leave or go into another fenced area because often times, I’ve witnessed these specific owners keep their aggressive dogs at the park as they drive other people away. I tend to use the smaller gated area when the other gated area is a bit too muddy. The limit is 30 pounds but my fur baby is only 10...

Great park to let your dog loose at to have some fun! The park stays really clean considering all the dogs that are there. They have 2 separate parks for different size dogs, problem is that not everyone reads the sign and brings little dogs in with big dogs. They have a training area that is a great course to work with your dog. I have had the problem a lot though that people just bring their dog to the park to run free and not to socialize with other dogs so when my dog runs up to play, the owner gets upset. Or people bring dogs that are way too rough and aggressive and cause fights to break out. Just be aware when you bring your dog, but they will...

It's sad that this park has so much potential but it's an absolute disappointment. It doesn't matter at what time of day you go, the "shaded" area is never actually shading the seats. Additionally, watering stations for dogs is little to non-existent - what they have trickles out at best. And don't get me started on the amount of prickers my poor dogs get embedded in their paws and massive holes from dogs digging the ground up. Lastly, there are no lights at night. According to Google the park doesn't close until 9pm and it's absolutely pitch-black by 7. Is safety not a concern? God forbid if someone breaks their ankle in one of the numerous holes
