Wow! What a well put together museum with so much information! It's open only on Saturdays, but I called because we were going to only be in town in the middle of the week, and I just thought my husband would really like to see it. Amazingly, the lady in charge opened the place up for us. It was so worth it. If you get a chance to visit, please do. There is so much history in that building, and all the old planes are in working condition and used for air shows and reenactments. My husband is a major history buff, so it was a special treat for him. My girls and I learned a lot just by looking at the different exhibits. There's a whole section on HW Bush's rescue from the Pacific. They have all this information and equipment related to aerial photography during the war. You can also touch different types of plane engines. There's a lot to see. Julie, thanks for making this visit possible for us. We are grateful and impressed by the work yall are...
Read moreThis place was really top notch, greeted at the door by two really nice guys wanting to know where we had come from and if we would like a guided tour. We opted to go on unguided due to our little one being impatient, we’re handed brochures and info about the air show and were told thank you for coming in today and enjoy. Phenomenal fellow. We walked through what looks like a working museum, absolutely amazing displays of historical hardware and the story to match. This place allows you to walk up to working projects that keep planes in the air and get a feel for how meticulous the building and repairing process is. It appears this place is funded by the people who visit so we donated some cash however were never asked nor made to feel obligated to do so (you will personally feel the desire to donate once you meet the people and see the exhibits) I would go back there and I recommend this place highly....
Read moreWe are big history buffs and my husband loves planes. We took our girls to this gem of a museum and we had the best time. There is so much history in this hanger. Donnie one of the volunteers spent some quality time with us and told us lots of really cool and interesting facts about the planes in the hanger. He told us the story about the fighter jet that they have on display and it's definitely something special. He even let our girls get into a plane and taught them how to fly it (pretend fly). We even got the opportunity to watch them take off in one of the older planes. It was cool to watch. They offer a ride program where we can go up in a Beechcraft Model-18 that seats 5 individuals. We will definitely be looking into doing this ride. And it costs $75-$145 per seat or $395 for the...
