The Summit Center: Where Midland Accidentally Got Cool
If you had told me Midland was hiding a mini utopia where kids can climb concrete and rolling hills like feral Spider-Men, parents can pretend they’re athletes on the pickleball court, and everyone can eat crepes and ice cream under dangling greenery like they’re in Europe instead of West Texas, I’d have laughed. But here we are.
The slides? A hit. The concrete pillars? We climbed them like goats on caffeine. The lush green turf was suspiciously nice for Midland and made a perfect spot for practicing handstands or pretending we had our lives together.
And then there's the food situation. An actual crepe stand. An ice cream shop. I’m not saying it felt like a fancy resort, but it definitely didn’t feel like the Permian Basin. Add the shaded trellises with vines growing like ambition at a Tony Robbins seminar, and you’ve got a public space with main character energy.
Even the pickleball courts were full of retirees who could absolutely ruin your self-esteem with a paddle.
In short, The Summit Center is the most accidentally charming place in Midland. A little city fantasy tucked between oilfield trucks and dust.
Would absolutely go again. Might even bring a lawn chair and pretend...
