We made a last minute decision to go and didn’t know what to expect. The decor instantly told me this would not be my typical Tex-Mex. It is upscale and elegant. All three of us at the table had a different cocktail and all were delicious. Our service was great. Not super fast but not slow. Service was attentive and kind. We started with the bowl of sliced jalapeños de Neme and they were sooo addictive. I needed more chips just to keep eating them. We also loved the corn appetizer. Each diner ordered a different entree. My husband had the Pibil, which was juicy and delicious. My daughter ordered the wagyu tacos and I had the chicken mole. Please note that these dishes are served with a plain white rice and not with a tomato flavored seasoned rice like many Mexican restaurant. I’m assuming that this is traditional to where these dishes come from, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. My mole was yummy, though it was served on a simple grilled chicken breast. Probably best so the mole didn’t compete with the chicken, but I didn’t expect it. That was my issue, not the restaurants. My daughter’s wagyu tacos were very flavorful. Small like a street taco, but good. I’m glad we have a nice option for dining on the North side of town and one that has a little more fine dining feel to it. We will be back and...
Read moreWe were so disappointed with our experience. We heard the owners were the same as Cancun, which we love, so we brought our family while they were in town. Unfortunately, other than the drinks, we had nothing good to say. I wish we had read reviews before going, it would have saved us a very lackluster experience.
The seafood enchiladas had decent flavor. However, when you pay $30+ for a meal, I expect a little more than two small enchiladas with a spoonful of cold rice and (maybe) a spoonful of beans smeared on the plate.
My father in law ordered the filet mignon and lobster. They didn’t ask how he wanted it cooked and I guess assumed well done was the best option. It also was NOT a filet, definitely just a chunk of sirloin on a piece of bread. Super disappointed here. The lobster was small and dry, not much more to say there.
The alcoholic drinks were the only thing we were really happy with. My wife’s water was empty the entire time we were eating and it was not even very busy. Definitely less than 50% full.
I hope this is just a phase and the place gets better. It will be a very long time before we decide to give them another shot. $200+ for dinner for four and everyone left unsatisfied and...
Read moreThe space itself doesn’t feel like it is utilized correctly and it’s an awkward sit, they need music or something. There is also only one restroom stall in the restaurant which is super inconvenient. Queso was great but chips were cold and nothing special- kind of tasted cheap. The guacamole was a disappointment with no flavor whatsoever and an insanely small portion- small ice cream scoop. The gran bistro valor was horrible and a super small unappetizing portion. The meat a small thin steak that was blue placed on top of a burnt torta bun- very weird. The lobster was disgusting and the butter they used was not my cup of tea. For $45 I would never get that entree. The shrimp tacos could have been good bc the shrimp romp was big but they weren’t cooked right, rubbery and unseasoned. Also loaded too much cabbage- could have been decent with some other topping or lime. Tortillas were stiff and dry. Churros were not horrible at least. All the food was cold, don’t know if they don’t have heat lamps or what. I think they need to redo the descriptions of the items they serve because they don’t accurately represent...
