📍 Martindale Beach Playscape - Milford This is our kids’ (almost 3 and almost 2) favorite playground. They enjoy playing in the toddler/infant area, then moving + climbing to the “big kid ropes” (suggested age 5-12). The playscape is in close proximity to the beach, has benches for the parents, as well as BEAUTIFUL large shaded trees for a picnic or rest stop. Walking distance is the splash pad + the food court that has picnic tables. Family time + picnic with @Emily Nagy #michiganmomtok #puremichigan #toddleractivities #toddlerparks #momsoftiktok #michiganmama #boymama #2boys2andunder #playscape #playdates @Michigan MomTok @Metro Detroit Momtok

Great beach! Kensington is a pretty big park, so there are a lot of areas available, but I prefer to go to this one since there are both a playground and water park right near the water. It costs $10 to get into the (entire)park daily or $35 for an annual pass on your car, and $6 to get into the water park for the day and you can exit and enter its gates as you please. There are concession stands, bathrooms and normally a snow cone truck available at the park and you can sit wherever you please whether it be grass, parking lot, beach or whatever. You can bring floaties, grills, food, coolers, large umbrellas, water toys, speakers, and alcohol and cigarettes don't seem to be a problem as far as I can tell. The lake is very large and sandy, no water shoes needed, and the entire park water and all is kept very clean. Other than this entrance, there are a few more driveways you can go into to access the lake and areas to launch kayaks and such. The only con is that there are NO LIFEGUARDS here, so be careful.

Posting for Kensington Metropark 4th of July fireworks (2023) - fireworks are shot off over Kent Lake (both Maple Beach and Martindale Beach surround Kent Lake and provide good views), starting shortly after 10pm. From Maple Beach, fireworks were to the right as you're looking at the lake. From Martindale, fireworks are straight across the lake (to the left of the water park.) Plenty of space for lawn chairs, blankets, etc, never got super packed (though it was a rainy year), and watch for trees that can obstruct views of course. Music starting around 7pm. Concessions open until 10pm, additional food and toy vendors in special for the day. Bathrooms in the building were available until after the fireworks and we'll cleaned considering it's a lake and also raining. Lake closed at 8pm for swimming. Awesome playground at Martindale Beach. Picnic tables and grilling allowed outside of direct swimming area. Parking lots could definitely fill before the show starts.

Beautiful, calm and quiet place to spend the summer at. A lot of greenery to see. Kayaks and canoes available for those adventurous people. Good place for families with kids. The water park close to the beach is a must go for those who like playing and dancing under water fountains and for those who love water slides. However, the beach isn't at all neat or well-maintained. There's less sand and a lot of muddy water at places. The beach water isn't clear or very clean. The sand and the grasses had animal poop all over the place. It was gross. Limited food options available. Not a good place for vegetarians to purchase food there as everything has either beef...
