Queeny Park is almost two different locations, there's the park itself, which is wonderful and a great place to take the family, ride your bike, fly a kite, or just hang out.
The other big draw in the park is the Recreation Center, which is home to many public (and sometimes very large) events. The facility is nice, features bleacher seating on one side of the main hall, and can host anything from hockey games to art shows to High School graduatins.
Here's the problem with Queeny Park and the event space. There is very very very (get it?) little parking for the building, and if you don't get to the event you're attending early, you'll likely be stuck parking on the side of the winding road that goes through the park. The good news is you may be able to get out easier as there is only one entrance/exit to the park. The bad news is that you could be parking FAR away from the building. It's not a huge deal on a nice Spring or Summer day, but it's no fun when it's cold or if there's any snow or ice on the ground. You have been warned.
Best advice is if you're attending an event at the park, get there early and enjoy your surroundings from a decent...
Read moreWent here for a photo shoot and spent time at the playground before hand. Absolutely filthy. There was trash everywhere on the playground. My 3 toddlers found every band aid, bottle cap, and wet discarded sock on the premises. My oldest needed to use the restroom while there in true kid fashion. There was a family sized port o potty that I thought we could use. The back of the toilet was splattered with feces and there was literal garbage in the toilet portion piled so high it was impossible to even sit to use the toilet. I walked her up the hill to the rec center to find it closed. I had to rip my other two kids screaming from the playground to LEAVE THE PARK to find a bathroom. (Thank you kfc) Made it to our photoshoot (barely), won't be coming back. They have a help wanted notice posted as you drive in. And after visiting I can see it's...
Read moreThis is a very unique park. If you look at pictures of the playground, they use the natural features of the land to create a 3-tier playground. They have the sloped walls have small rocks jutting out that the kids can climb on. They also have a cool drainage pipe that you can crawl through with a ladder about half-way through that you can climb up. It is a lot of fun for our 2.5 year old son. There is also a smaller “typical” playground for younger children with slides and such. Make sure you look on the map to get the best parking. available. I would suggest trying to park by the ice rink as that will put you closest to the playground. Really fun park and will continue...
