Landscape Arch is a 1.6 mile trail as part of the Devils Garden area of Arches. It's classified as moderately easy with some elevation gain. The surface is unpaved, but hard-packed from so many feet. There are side trips to Tunnel Arch, and Pine Tree Arch, and if you stay on the trail after Landscape Arch, you can connect to the Primitive Trail, which goes out to the Navajo, Double O, and Private Arches. Dark Angel is 0.5 miles beyond the Double O Arch. The Primitive Trail is 7.2 miles RT, and is considered a challenging alternative route to and from Double O Arch. There are narrow ledges, steep exposures, uneven surfaces, some rock scrambling, and sometimes, the route is hard to follow. If it is wet or icy, the park service recommends not using this trail. 3-5 hours is needed, as well as good shoes, lots of water, and shade protection. For these reasons, we went as far as Landscape Arch only. Landscape Arch spans 306 feet with a maximum width of just 10-feet. In August of 1991, there was a torrential rain in the area. On September 1, hikers thought they heard thunder with cracking and popping. They watched as a 60-foot long rock slab peeled away from the arch’s right side. When the dust settled, 180 tons of fresh rock debris lay scattered on the ground. Ice and water had slowly been reshaping the rock, seeping in, from the top down and freezing and expanding, causing this fall. Immediately after the 1991 rock fall, the National Park Service closed the trail up to and under the arch, and in the interest of safety it remains closed. Other rock falls in 1995 and ’96 have helped keep the trial closed. So while it is no longer possible to hike up under the arch, the viewpoint provides an excellent photo op. On the left side, another large horizontal crack is clearly visible. We were happy to have seen this arch while it is still there. As seniors, we did not have too much trouble with the trail, and enjoyed it all quite a lot. The Arch was...

Landscape Arch is one of the world's longest stone spans! It is 306 feet (93.3 m) wide, but is quite narrow at only about 11 feet (3.4 m) thick at its center.

For Landscape Arch you start your hike at the 'Devils Garden' trailhead. The trail is relatively flat and hard-packed to Landscape Arch. There is little elevation gain, with some gentle hills, up and down. The total distance to the arch and back is just under 2 mi. It will likely take about 45 mins round-trip. Plus time to stop and enjoy it.

Beyond Landscape Arch toward Double O Arch the hike becomes more difficult and for experienced hikers (with the right gear and water etc). You can turn around at this point to avoid the challenging remainder...

This is a great trail to take the family on. It would seem to be wheelchair accessible as most of the trail has been paved. I remember when the trail used to go up closer to Landscape Arch, but I can definitely understand why they have pushed the trail further back and fenced it off. Nobody seems to listen to the whole "stay on the trail" markers. Very frustrating. But overall this is a great and easy trail for anyone. Very picturesque. You can continue on the trail and see more arches from there if you'd like. There's not a lot of elevation difference so the trail stays relatively flat the whole time and makes it a good trail for kids. There is also a restroom at...

1 DAY AT ARCHES NATIONAL PARK 🤩 Spending one day at Arches National Park is a feat, but it can be done. There are so many arches at this park. It could be overwhelming, but with this itinerary, you can see so many arches in one day. Here’s what to see from start to finish ⬇️ 🔆 start your morning off by hiking to Delicate Arch 🔆 Sand Dune Arch 🔆 Skyline Arch 🔆 Hike the Devil’s garden where you can see so many arches like Landscape Arch 🔆 Balancing Rock 🔆 Double Arch and the windows 🔆 Park Avenue With this itinerary, it takes 5 hours to complete. Just make sure you start early. Especially with Delicate Arch being the most popular arch in the park. I recommend starting your day at 7AM. Have you been to Arches National park before let us know in the comments below and do you have a favorite arch? Any advice you can give to those looking to visit? #travel #adventure #adventuretravel #explore #nationalpark #archesnationalpark
