Painting with a Twist — Attraction in Monroe

Ive only gone once and I didnt like it. Someone invited and paid for me to paint for their birthday party. Highly unlikely that I would pay my own money to go again. Based on this experience its not worth it. Details below.

THEY DO NOT SET UP THE SPACE FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING. The front room was full with people just 3 ft apart and sitting across from each other. When I arrived with my group, we had to walk past 20-25 unmasked people in that small space. Thankfully my friend had gotten the private room and we were only 5 so we were socially distanced and only lowered our mask to eat or drink.

The supplies could be better. We start with an unprimed, dry canvas. So you need to use a lot more paint and it takes a more time to dry. The paint itself is about the quality of the cheaper craft paint but they give you tons of it. We got 2 fairly large brushes a flat and a filbert. It was difficult to paint well.

The instructor was bad. The chalk sketch on the canvas when we arrived was poorly done and hard to follow. Her finished painting looked worse than mine and didnt look like the sample one on the wall. She didnt give much verbal explanation and my friend who doesnt paint much became very frustrated. All of us hated our final product and as soon as I got home I painted over it with white and I am going to redo it with a youtube tutorial. My friends all say we just got a bad instructor and they all have had wonderful experiences in the past. They have several paintings in their house but said they had no intention of displaying this...

I had the absolute BEST time! I booked for myself and two of my friends for my birthday. Our instructor was so sweet and encouraging! She was very helpful and made us feel comfortable to just go with the flow and have fun, all the while actually walking away with projects we will actually hang on our walls! (Despite none of us being artist material!) I would highly recommend this experience for anyone who might be on the fence! I have attended and enjoyed PWAT a few times but not so much tonight. Our instructor Emilee Martinez was not at all welcoming, warm nor fun. She seemed sad, and standoffish. She didn't engaged with the audience. Once she was done teaching a step she would stand on the wall in complete silence then she would say " you should be done with that lets move on". We felt rushed and like a bother to her. She complained about being short on time but she ended the session 20 mins early. I really wish I could write a postive review about my experience but I cant.
