Some of their items are delicious, but some are dry and flavorless. I don't find the customer service to be the best, because they are never very welcoming or friendly - very dry and to the point. My issue is mostly with the way they run their business. I have driven all the way from deep in West Monroe on numerous occasions at many different times of day, including early morning, mid morning, lunch, early afternoon, and late, only to find every single time that their selection is extremely lacking. Their stuff sells out very quickly, yet they refuse to make bigger quantities (for instance, making one cake for all of Monroe/West Monroe for the entire day). They will make one cake for the entire day and then post it for all the world to see. You can call within 30 minutes of posting and it is already gone -why in the world do you not make more than one cake per day?!?! Then, on top of that, they usually have next to nothing in their cooler . Today it was 8:30 am and they were sold out of almost everything, and I was told that they wouldn't be making anything else until after lunch. I do not understand this concept. It was completley dead in there with 5 employees in the back. Aren't you running a bakery, why would you not make anything else to have available? I worked for my hometown bakery for years and our baker got there at 3 am and baked a ton of stuff every morning before we even opened so that we would have a steady supply of all our bakery items to last throughout the day, and this was in a very small town. I guess it is just the luck of the draw as to what they will or won't have available at any given time/day. Don't get your heart set on anything, because you are likely to be disappointed and find out they don't have it. I have heard NUMEROUS complaints about this every single time I have gone in. I understand you can't make every cake you know how to make every single day, so do like small cakes and post a daily special for each day of the week, and for Pete's sake, make more than just one durn cake for all of Ouachita parish each day! And keep your coolers out front stocked with your regular items. If you start running low on one of your regular items, start baking a new batch, or bake several batches that morning so that when it runs low, you can put out more right then. I just don't get it. As for the food, the banana nut muffin is delicious. The vegan brownie is wonderful. The pecan bars are great. The coffee is great. The lemon blueberry cake is a must try. The iced brownie was not my cup of tea, but it is good. The hello dolly had a good flavor, but was dry. This was also the case with the chocolate chip muffin. The blueberry muffin was the worst I have ever had and had absolutely (talking zero) flavor. The almond chew is good, but is pretty strong (a little too strong) with almond flavor. I wouldn't recommend this place to just "stop by", because their stock and selection is too undependable. However, I would probably recommend preordering a cake or...
Read moreFirst visit at butter bakery was really unexpected. I always heard great things, so I decided to try it today. My girlfriend and I walked into the store and nobody greeted us. There was an older couple in front of us that the employees were showing around/helping, but no one even acknowledged us while we waited. There were employees behind the counter just standing there on their phones. We ended up walking around and picking what we wanted while waiting. We went to order and the lady who took our order seemed like she didn’t really know what she was doing. She went to grab our food and didn’t grab the right item - we had to correct her. Then, we asked for an iced coffee and she made a hot one. We asked for another one and got it iced that time, but our order went up by $8.50. Really expensive and not at all worth the money. Ended up throwing it away because it just tasted burnt and gross. Not sure if I’ll be back, but maybe it deserves a second chance. Quite upset by...
Read moreThis place is... AMAZING. It is a mecca for gf patrons. I live in Florida and just happened upon it as I searched for GF goods on my way to and from Texas.
WOW. If I lived nearby I'd probably be here daily.
My favorites were a cookie sandwich with buttercream frosting inside and an eclair. Both the fillings and cookie/dough pieces of both were incredible.
I also brought home a cheesecake brownie, peanut butter frosted brownie, and a regular frosted brownie. All were also fantastic.
If I could have guaranteed I'd get everything home to FL without it melting/getting crushed on the journey, I'd have gotten one of everything!
I am planning a special trip back to LA around returning to this bakery, that's how good it is! My gluten-eating husband also sampled the goodies and said they were fantastic.
Run, don't...
