We really enjoyed going to the ranch. This was our first time driving into a drive-thru zoo. We drove through with our own vehicle and that may have been a mistake but we were too late to get on a wagon ride and could not go back another day due to the short trip to this town. On our way into the Lazy 5 Ranch we saw a bunch of animals and roaming around but only a donkey came up to our vehicle. We parked after that and went into the shop to buy tickets to go through the ranch and bought feed to throw out. The ranch has over 700 animals. The property is very pretty soo and rustic. It is a 3.5 mile trail to drive. Some of the animals include: cattle, zebras, sheep, goats, deer, giraffes, buffalo, etc.
There was a paper we got when we paid for tickets and it said the animals may autograph your vehicle and several did actually "autograph". I had told my husband before we went here that it may be a possibility. When we left we had several scratches on the doors of the driver and passenger door. If you don't want to take this risk, I highly recommend you make sure you plan your visit around getting a wagon ride. I would suggest you call up ahead of time and get a spot or ask how you can secure it.
You are allowed to honk your horn to try to get the animals to move out of the way. The goats, emus, and ostritches were the ones that really didn't want to move much. I was weary of the emus/ostritches as I had been warned it may not feel good if they hit your hands when trying to eat from the bucket so I kept my window up for them and was weary since it was my first time with this kind of experience. The speed limit is only 5mph.
We really enjoyed driving around and seeing the animals roaming free and feeding them. The little goats and deer were the cutest.
After we got done with the drive through part we actually went to the walk around area and saw more animals and fed some of the goats. I love feeding the goats. Goats are one of my favorites animals at farms and zoos. They have petting areas, a playground, picnic areas, and also a gift shop and snacks at Lazy 5 Ranch. Check out all they have to offer and stay here a few hours to enjoy it all.
It closes 1 hour before sunset so watch your time and don't cut it too short.
It was 11 bucks per adult.
We would definitely go back again if we are in the area again and also would either take the wagon ride this time or put the floor mats on the side of the vehicle to make sure we don't get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeāve been here a few times and this was unfortunately not the best visit. We went around 3pm on a Saturday which we expected to be busy but it took almost 40 mins to get to the gate to get tickets due to one person servicing two lines. When we got to the gate we asked to buy tickets for the hayride and were told reservations were required. Now, their website does mention that you can call for reservations but it does not say they are required. In previous visits we have not needed reservations but bought at the gate and were told when to be at the loading area. After we parked to let the kids use the restroom before driving ourselves through, I asked one of the attendants why they donāt say that reservations are required online, and I was met with an aggressive woman who yelled that itās listed on the website numerous times. Having the exact page up on my phone I showed her what it actually said and was again met with a nasty and sarcastic āwell sorry but itās always been that wayā. Again, we havenāt needed them in the past, but I wasnāt about to get into an argument with her at the gate. We decided to drive ourselves, which was fine. Very busy but not unexpected. The ranch is always beautiful and the kids loved the animals. After our drive through, we went to the walk through portion and thatās where things got a little gross. The bird and fish habitats were so disgusting and unkept. Several of the bird enclosures had water bowls that were either empty or covered in mounds of feces and algae which leads me to believe theyāre not cared for daily. I mentioned that a couple habitats needed fresh water to one of the employees we saw at the gift shop and was met with a dismissive āthanks for letting us knowā, and she went back to reading a book. Overall the tour was great, but the staff missed some opportunities for positive guest experience. And I really hope they get the animal habitats in...
