Love this park. The location removes you from the day-to-day grind. Large open land for football, soccer, freebie, or a picnic and a game of catch. With the river splitting the park you can cross to the other side with ease by way of a bridge and 60 sec you have changed states. But you would never know this by looking around. I very much enjoyed riding my bike and exploring the parks. Wildlife is an exciting extra the park offers. I grew up in S. Georgia N. Florida. I never thought I would find a place that could remove the city and at the same time offer a place to do every outdoor activity. Walk run ride sunbathes bird watch even get your feet wet in the river. When it gets cold out snow is on the ground and Christmas coming fast. You can relax and enjoy the 45 min drive throw the park as you sing Christmas songs and look at the lights. Gooseberry Mound Park is as close to my woods back home in Tallahassee FL as I can find. With music playing in my ears and the wind on my face as I explore the park time melts away and just like that 6 hours have passed and I have to return to the noise and grind of the...
Read moreHad a great time. Tried to make a day of it.... , got cold and went back to the castle. Wrong time of year. Very beautiful place that makes everything look and feel better if only for a moment. Now that I think about it, I'm gonna need to get back there real quickly. A nice place to take a time out and reset. Give the feeling that you still have a chance and that your heart didn't get torn out and discarded. Nice and quiet place to relax and pretend that life is gonna be ok and that you won't always be alone in the world. Nice and tranquil place to sit a while and pretend that every woman on earth won't be a basket case and that someday you may be happy or at least content while your watching time go be while by yourself doing time wasting reviews online and pretending all is well and you'll be apreciated again someday. Also, its a nice place to walk and take in some quiet time......kinda the same lonely , quiet time that some of us have 24/7 and slowly drives a person crazy. Just saying....
Read moreMy husband regularly visited this park as a kid. The bike trails from then are still abundant and a scenic way to enjoy this park along the North flowing Red River. The larger picnic pavilion thankfully has been updated in the past few years. Concrete serving tables with lots of outlets for all your slow cookers, roasting ovens, etc are a nice addition. There are actually 2 picnic areas. If you are planning an event and expecting any young children be sure to book the pavilion closest to the playground so that you will be able to interact with the parents who will be wanting to keep a close eye on the little ones. Or book farther away for family reunions and pray that "the in-law" (You know which one I'm talking about) volunteers to hang out by the playground and watch the kids! Also lots of grassy space to spread out and enjoy the sun. We lucked out and were able to enjoy fly overs from a airshow...
