I love nature parks, preserves, and the outdoors. This place is hidden away a bit in Los Osos, and definitely worth location. I believe it is a 23 acre piece right on the ocean in the back bay with fantastic panoramas of the Rock and Morro Bay. As the Audubon Society is closely tied with this place, you would be correct in assuming that there are lots of birds here! Correct! all types of seashore birds are here and just park yourself on any of the benches and they will start coming in to earshot and into view. I was Very excited about the number and quantity of birds I encountered. Bring the camera and be ready...

Great place to spot birds like Herons, Egrets, and ducks. The few turtles hanging out in the pond are pretty cool to see too. Love the views and the trails, but unfortunately a few people have ruined it for those of us who enjoyed bringing out dog(s) here. The actions of a few inconsiderate and disrespectful dog owners have ruined it for the rest of the people. Used to go through here on morning jogs with the dogs 2-3 times a week, but no more thanks to the new rules. Still look forward to the occasional evening at the lookout, but will be coming her far...

Very gorgeous little spot. Very nice spot to watch the sunset. There always seems to be plenty of birds to look at if you happen to like birdwatching. It has 2 wooden lookout points on either end with places to sit and very awesome view points. There is a nice wooden bridge in the middle that is great for taking pics on. All while having numerous other wooden benches to enjoy watching the tide come in and out or enjoy the sunset or sunrise or perhaps some of the beautiful birds. Best part for me is that it is located right around the corner from...

Sweet springs is known for its excellent birding. Beginning in early Fall migrating birds begin to appear. The pond attracts Mallards, Blue and Green-winged Teal and occasionally Cinnamon Teal and Pintail. In the vegetation are Song Sparrow and Common Yellowthroat. Throughout Sweet Springs, Great and Snowy Egret and Great Blue Heron. At lower tides scores of shorebirds can be seen along the edges of the pickleweed. Two overlooks with seating allow for great birding or just a place to rest and contemplate the beauty before you.

Wonderful little nature preserve. There are two viewing platforms on the Back Bay. Dirt paths wander through the trees. What you see varies day to day and season to season. In February over two days we saw brant, marbled godwits, sanderlings, scaup, mallards, dozens of willets, great and snowy egrets, Rufus hummingbird, belted kingfisher and long billed curlew. Also a pergrine falcon and this wonderful Townsends warbler. No pets allowed. A great place to walk or sit even if you are not a birder. Very peaceful.
