Compared to the school auditorium that came before this, the Performing Arts Center is better in almost every way. The seating capacity is increased from about 350 to 829 thanks to the building being taller, the wooden panels (I'm guessing for acoustics) built into the auditorium give the place a look that's similar to Marcus Center - Uihlein Hall, the sound and lighting technology has been updated (As of 2018), and last, but not least, we have a dedicated scene shop and garage doors to move sets to the stage. My biggest problem with the PAC is that the length and width of the stage itself, plus the wings and backstage, are not ideal for a production that uses a ton of sets, and that is mostly because the orchestra shells that we use for concerts are always in the downstage right corner of the wings, giving us less room to move around. This problem could have been avoided if the shells were not taller than the garage doors to the scene shop.
