Went to the phosphate museum in Mulberry, Florida on a, looking for something to do, day.
There was much more to the museum than I thought there was going to be. The two very helpful docents of the museum answered so many of our questions and pointed out many interesting facts within the different exhibits at the museum.
Afterwards we went to the phosphate pile out front which is provided by the museum for its guests. You can pick through the pile searching for fossils. And the best part is you get to keep whatever you find.
Was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the museum thoroughly. Looking forward to returning again towards the end of July when they get a new pile of phosphate!
Definitely worth the visit whether passing through or staying a while. Get on down to the Mulberry phosphate museum and tell them Jackie Hemingway sent you... They'll laugh and laugh and laugh!! 😁
Looking forward to...
Read moreThis place is small but packs a big punch with all the information you can learn from a tour. The tour guide was friendly and thorough with many interesting facts about phosphate and the city of Mulberry. There are clean restrooms to wash up after your dig. After the tour, we walked through an old train and saw some more antique items used back in the day, then we ate lunch. (It is advised to bring your own food and drinks or go across the street to McDonald's) then we're able to dig for fossils and shark teeth at an on-site area set up right outside their building for as long as you want. Wear comfortable clothes & shoes as you will get dirty. Bring your own gloves, shovel, sifter & container to put your findings in to take home anything you find as souvenirs, and show off to your friends & family. It is an all-day amazing experience for...

Then Agrico South Pierce where she was a Security supervisor. She used to sit for hours on the dikes east of Ft. Meade and watch my grandfather operate the Prarie Queen and can remember days of climbing Sand Mountain in Ft.Meade and the failed Skeleton Motel in Ft Meade. Today we are joining the...
