It's free! It's so cool you can dig for fossils and shark's teeth outside but bring a shovel. You could actually bring a metal shovel if you want but the kids had plastic ones or a stick to get down deeper so you can get some good teeth. Inside the museums are really cool. There's a red rail car you can walk into. It's a little stuffy but it's cool to be able to see the inside of a train. Definitely wanting to go back and even for adults if you're into like sharks teeth and fossils it's just a really cool experience just to dig in that huge pile of stone. I could have added more pictures but that would take away some of the interest in going and seeing it in person!!

A free museum in Mulberry about the origins and uses of phosphate. While it isn’t the most exciting thing to do, it’s still fun for kids since you can dig for shark teeth at the front. There’s also three portables within the museum that showcase the educational content. We went in and had the entire museum to ourselves. The staff was friendly to us and there’s an exhibit showcasing many different fossils. However, some of the content can be too biased or not clear. Overall, if you’re looking for things to do in Mulberry, this may be your only option.

I promise this museum will not be what you're expecting. Well curated displays, friendly staff, well preserved specimens; The Phosphate Museum is a quality visit. There are three rooms (some made from Boxcars!) and a tour of a Caboose. Thr massive case full of fossils and casts was impressively designed and not expected from what we thought might have been just a tiny museum. From the donors page and the case of items on loan this place has a lot ofnlove and it is easy to see why.

Went to the phosphate museum in Mulberry, Florida on a, looking for something to do, day.

There was much more to the museum than I thought there was going to be. The two very helpful docents of the museum answered so many of our questions and pointed out many interesting facts within the different exhibits at the museum.

Afterwards we went to the phosphate pile out front which is provided by the museum for its guests. You can pick through the pile searching for fossils. And the best part is you get to keep whatever you find.

Was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the museum thoroughly. Looking forward to returning again towards the end of July when they get a new pile of phosphate!

Definitely worth the visit whether passing through or staying a while. Get on down to the Mulberry phosphate museum and tell them Jackie Hemingway sent you... They'll laugh and laugh and laugh!! 😁

Looking forward to...

This place is small but packs a big punch with all the information you can learn from a tour. The tour guide was friendly and thorough with many interesting facts about phosphate and the city of Mulberry. There are clean restrooms to wash up after your dig. After the tour, we walked through an old train and saw some more antique items used back in the day, then we ate lunch. (It is advised to bring your own food and drinks or go across the street to McDonald's) then we're able to dig for fossils and shark teeth at an on-site area set up right outside their building for as long as you want. Wear comfortable clothes & shoes as you will get dirty. Bring your own gloves, shovel, sifter & container to put your findings in to take home anything you find as souvenirs, and show off to your friends & family. It is an all-day amazing experience for...

Took 2 of the grandkids last Saturday. Had a wonderful time. They had heard about their great great grandfather Johnny (Jap.) Merritt who operated the Prarie Queen the largest of dragline for its time until they made him retire. He worked for W.R. Grace. I worked for I. M.C. New Wales as a young man. Their grandmother, my wife of 25 year's, Annette Lott Merritt worked for Globe Security's starting at the age of 18, working at United States Steel Ft Meade. Then Agrico South Pierce where she was a Security supervisor. She used to sit for hours on the dikes east of Ft. Meade and watch my grandfather operate the Prarie Queen and can remember days of climbing Sand Mountain in Ft.Meade and the failed Skeleton Motel in Ft Meade. Today we are joining the...
