I've eat at the Highlands diner since I moved to Lakeland and I heard that they moved to Mulberry so I thought I'd pop in to check it out and I waited for someone to acknowledge me for 11 minutes and no one did, so I just kind of read the menu and that I left.
I understand this is probably a down size to the smaller building but the dining area is discombobulated and there are supplies all over the front area and the extra high chairs and chairs up by the bar and just all the stuff that waitresses use to work on is just everywhere, so I'm hoping to give him another try later, but to not be acknowledged for over 10 minutes and then I just had to leave.
It'll be a little while before I try it again. I'm super upset about it cause I love Highlands Diner.
I hope they can get organized out front and have some kind of plan of action that it's kept organized and neat outfront.
The food is hopefully gonna be as great as it was at the Highlands diner but I'm gonna have to think about it for a little while. I'm not impressed on my first time in to completely be ignored when there are two waitresses and only one table seated with so much being all over the place and unorganized.
I am hopeful this is is just due to change of location and having to downsize and that management can get a handle on it so restaurant looks inviting instead of so stacked and...
Read moreI ordered a to go order, it was rung up correctly however I was given a sausage egg and cheese biscuit when I ordered bacon. I went inside to make the staff aware. I made the blonde tall waitress, Trista, at the bar aware my order came out incorrect. She proceeded to tell me âWell I did not take your order.â I told her I knew she didnât take my order but it was not correct, explaining to her why. Where she then opened the box and said âyou ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and thatâs what you got.â I then removed the top of the sandwich to show her that she was incorrect, it was sausage. She became VERY aggressive and getting loud with me. She started saying â I donât like your attitude and the way you are speaking to me.â However I never raised my voice to her, she was raising her voice at me. She then proceeded to tell me â I am the manager here today, not Russ or Mandy!â Why she felt the need to validate to me her position, Iâm unsure as I did not ask her that. Her customer service is absolutely terrible and the fact she thinks she can YELL at a customer in that tone is completely unprofessional. When I got back to my vehicle with my âcorrected foodâ it turns out they just removed the sausage and put the bacon on top of that same sandwich⊠as you can see the remnants from the previously placed sausage...
Read moreEDIT: I gave this place another chance after what happened below. I am once again floored by the horrible service this place provides. Once again, I walked into a dark, musty room of staff that look like they're all on death-row. The glair from the kitchen, almost as if they dread anyone walking in at all. At least the food was g--- No. Not many places manage to mess up chicken tenders. All I have to say is if your food is so greasy and poor quality it motivates ME to run not only one, but TWO miles afterwards to ward off the feeling it gives; something, isn't right.
If I could award zero stars, I would.

I ordered a basket of 5 chicken tenders for pickup. As I was waiting for the order to come out, one of the waitresses was extremely rude in her vocal tone towards two gentlemen that had just came in and sat down. Not was this off putting, but I only received three tenders, along with a long stand of hair on the food. The nail in the coffin for me was when I went to open the box, the ranch packet was recklessly placed in the box with the food, completely spilled over. This experience is consistent with three separate occasions that I have visited this business. I believe the waitress staff needs a change or perhaps work with some hospitality...
