I know that looking at my three-star rating of that popular place you think to yourself “What’s wrong with her? Everybody loves Chapel Beach”, but let me explain why I didn’t like it. In the beginning I was really impressed with the stunning view of the Chapel Rock tree. I was looking at it from the water (we had kayaking tour) and decided that we need to explore that place again. On foot. So we did it and it was disappointing experience. The trail was long, easy and… boring. There were just a couple of attractive spots like a waterfall and a hidden lake. The Chapel Rock tree was incredible but it looked more impressive from the waterside than from the land. As for the beach… we hoped we can swim there but it was absolutely impossible because of HORSEFLIES. There were a billion of them there. They stung us non-stop not even taking into consideration that we had used off-spray before we stepped in their beach. So we receded as soon as possible leaving the battlefield for them. As a result that place is not the Chapel Beach for me anymore. Now I call it the...

Nice beach with an amaizing view of the Lake Superior. Worth of walking for around 3.6 miles to reach there from the parking lot.

Cellphone network is often unavailable around this place. Google map is often not directing to the parkig lot properly.

No doubt about the amaizing view of the beach itself and the falls on the way.

Strongly recommend carying drinking water and electrolyte with you. Must follow the trails. Better to follow others or walking together if you are in a group.

Trails are sometimes slippery, better having a stick at hand which you may collect on your way from fallen branches of trees.

You may encounter snake in the walking trails leading to the beach. We have encountered it...

This is an absolutely beautiful place! It's about three and a half miles to hike to. If you aren't up for the hike, renting a pontoon to enjoy the beach would be a good idea. Chapel Rock was one of my favorite things to see. Little falls that you can climb on our right there too. If you have young kids, I recommend starting early in the day and bringing food to spend some time at the beach before hiking back. The hike itself has a lot of up-and-down and tree roots, nothing too hard, but we made the mistake of starting it late in the day with our young children and also at the end of our trip when we were...

Lovely sandy Lake Superior Beach. Made for a great place to take lunch on a long hike. The beach has so much to offer...panoramic views of Lake Superior, Chapel Rock can be found on the eastern edge of the beach, as well as the Chapel River flows into Lake Superior. Did I mention copious amounts of soft sand? The beach is rather large and though areas of the trail were kind of busy the beach itself was practically vacant , and just so happened to be there on a day in which the Lake was exceptionally tranquil.
