I was excited to visit this lighthouse until I realized how dangerous the path is, especially with kids. It starts off wide and then gets so narrow that you can barely fit two people side by side, let alone walk past someone coming the opposite way. The path has big, broken chunks so it could be easy to trip on an already dangerous walkway. I loved that it went way out. I wish there was at least a railing to feel more secure, especially with younger kids. It gets very windy out there. Its free, so there's no tickets to buy. The path is right next to The Deck restaurant. The lighthouse itself is very old with graffiti...

Very old but functional light house. Unfortunately by the time we reach there, it was closed. We couldn’t find the timing info mentioned anywhere (or we might have missed it) but it closes at 5 PM (Update : this info is available on fb page) . Due to its condition, visitors cannot walk up to the top. (Heard it somewhere else) But walk towards it, is enjoyable due to view of the lake and water activities.

Update: It seems the information I had earlier about 'not being able to climb or this being non functional, was misleading and one of the volunteers has responded below with correct information. Thank you for...

Certainly was a beautiful view of Lake Michigan & an amazing sunset to watch. We were in search of a cozy place to watch the sunset this weekend and Grand Haven was a bit too crowded for us so we decided to head here instead. We saw a lot of reviews that mentioned this “sketchy walk” and we certainly found out. The cement is definitely crumbling along the pier while walking to the lighthouse. Some spots were so bad you had to single file line to safely keep walking. Gets a little narrow too at some spots but truthfully the aging gives...

The volunteers at this lighthouse are incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the history of the Muskegon Beach are and have tons of amazing photographs to see for you to learn about what used to be in this area. I highly reccomend going on the tour and climbing to the top of the lighthouse during the summer to experience a unique perspective and learn about all the cool places that used to be in the area and the shipwrecks that have happened in the channel!
