I was excited to visit this lighthouse until I realized how dangerous the path is, especially with kids. It starts off wide and then gets so narrow that you can barely fit two people side by side, let alone walk past someone coming the opposite way. The path has big, broken chunks so it could be easy to trip on an already dangerous walkway. I loved that it went way out. I wish there was at least a railing to feel more secure, especially with younger kids. It gets very windy out there. Its free, so there's no tickets to buy. Read moreVery old but functional light house. Unfortunately by the time we reach there, it was closed. We couldn’t find the timing info mentioned anywhere (or we might have missed it) but it closes at 5 PM (Update : this info is available on fb page) . Due to its condition, visitors cannot walk up to the top. (Heard it somewhere else) But walk towards it, is enjoyable due to view of the lake and water activities.

We were in search of a cozy place to watch the sunset this weekend and Grand Haven was a bit too crowded for us so we decided to head here instead. We saw a lot of reviews that mentioned this “sketchy walk” and we certainly found out. The cement is definitely crumbling along the pier while walking to the lighthouse.
