Long Meadow Ranch - Rutherford Estate — Attraction in Napa Valley AVA

We had the best tour 12/27/17. Our guide, Julian, was fantastic! He was friendly and informative. He even showed me a few tricks to unlock the nuances in the wines.

Their wines are impeccable. Their olive oil is delicious and the farm to table concept is legendary. The way that they use and reuse every resource was inspiring. One of the things I found so impressive was the exterior walls of the caves being made of from the excavated dirt. Pure genius!

Julian walked us through the process from vine to bottle, touched on food pairings and showed us how to appreciate the wines. Thanks to this tou,r my wife, who’s not been open to wine in the past, now has a greater appreciation and hasn’t stopped talking about her new love for wine.

After the tour we enjoyed lunch. The farm to table concept brings a freshness to the food that is unmatched.

We did the Winery and Cave experience which was well worth it. The tour starts in the tasting room by the Farmstead, and you are driven up to the hillside location of the winery. The view is fantastic, the building is very interesting and "green". There is art strewn throughout the modern facility. You get an introduction into wine making and tour the actual facility. The caves are carved into the mountainside. You see the olive press from above. During the tour you taste various wines.
