Madonna Estate Winery — Attraction in Napa Valley AVA

We arrived at same time as 35 person tour. We had no appointment but were warmly received and given to great lady, Karen, I believe, who gave us a wonderful tasting and explanation of their wines. She wasn't pushy and took her time with each wine, commenting on our observations, and explaining the progression from reds to whites to dessert wines, using our preferences as a guide, but building on that to introduce us to a wine we might not have tried but liked or might look into further. She explained their sensible wine club policy which we are going to join once we finish our current stash from them! We really loved their Rose and bought an extra bottle which we shared while watching the Pacific from our balcony in Gold Beach, Oregon. Yum! Not sure I would have liked being a part of a large tour. The worst experience and service ever we pay all this money to do wine tasting and this was the last and the worst spot of them all. First off they brought us all the way down to dungeon ducked off on the side of the building tables dirty with bird poop all over them. Then the guy approaches the table slams the box down without even speaking to us to top it off the wine wasn’t even cold. He acts as if he’s going to bring us cool ones and only brought back two cold wines. we had to serve ourselves to top it off in “Plastic Cups” talk about tacky when we got wine glasses at the other two. Worst place ever!! Would NOT recommend!! Not only did they stick us down in the back of the building with tables covered in bird poop, the man walked up and dropped a box of warm wines on the table without even speaking. We asked for some water and he said there was no water available. Which is a lie. It costs $4.50 for a bottle. We called and checked. Then we had to self serve and he didn’t even open the wine or give us any wine glasses. We had plastic cups. How ghetto. I as much as we paid some hospitality would have been nice.
