Roby Park is a great place to bring your child(ren) to run off their energy.
The park itself is gated to prevent little ones from running off. There is a soft, rubber-like astroturf under the playground equipment that surely absorbs falls better than any grassy, natural landscape could.
The park has swings, covered wooden picnic tables, slides, a rock climbing wall, a metal instrument built-in, a "zipline", and more.
It was also covered with shades above the equipment to protect little ones and parents from the sun, especially on hot, summer days.
The park is dedicated to Jeff Morin who died in a tragic car accident in Nashua in 1995 when he was just 16 years old. While I never knew Jeff, I did know the driver of the car, Melissa Blais, who was also killed in the accident. Melissa and I were cheerleaders together and she was also so sweet and welcoming and accepting of anyone. I'm sure Jeff was a great kid too.
While they lost their childhood, in a way, their story lives on through the dedication of this park to Jeff Morin allowing it to bring joy to local children who come here to play and...
Read moreJeff Morin Playground at Roby Park is awesome! The best feature is that much of the playground is under canopies, providing lots of shade for all of the Littles playing underneath. There is also a decent size parking lot and typically port-a-potties available. There are two different sections to the playground. One is perfect for tots and the other is for all kids - I would say up to age 10. There is plenty of fun for younger kids on interesting slides and climbing structures. Older kids will have fun swinging from the bars and trying the zip line. There are multiple picnic benches and lots of sitting benches inside the park. There is also a nice paved walking path that circles the entire park. Tip: swing by Pressed Cafe and pick up sandwiches to have at the picnic tables before you go. Or, after working up an appetite, pop next-door to lilac blossom for delicious...
Read moreI really enjoyed this park. I'm not giving it five stars because there was rust on one of the steps, part of the equipment was roped off, it was turf opposed to real grass, and it was next to a busy road. Additionally, my toddler is super mobile and I did notice that there were some places she could've definitely slipped through.
That being said, I loved that there was a fenced area around the park, I could see end-to-end, there was a separate area for smaller (toddler-4 year old) kiddoes, and that the whole thing is SHADED with massive shade sails.
My overall opinion is that there are definitely some safety hazards but we will go back keeping those...
